Please make clear about Skyrim Remastered

I'll have zero problem paying for it either. I mean, it's been 5 years. I got my $60 out of it and then A LOT of some.

Me too. I have an account setup over there, but the trolls rule that forum. There is so much hate over there especially for Fallout 4, that it's depressing. Once they move the TES board and the community board, I'm done. Unless the moderators do something about the trolls.

Skyrim Remastered....

Oh dear :(

I'm starting to not feel so pumped about it as I was after reading the various magazine/news/critic reports

Its the fog......if I believe what's written....Beth has filled lots of it with "atmospheric" fog. Plus lens flares etc

Gods I hope its not true

Look....sometimes.......just sometimes ok.....you go outside early morning and see some lovely natural morning mist...yes!

That does NOT mean that everywhere you look throughout the day.....everything is shrouded in orange fog

Mists used sparingly add great atmosphere to forests, valleys, swamps etc

But not everywhere and not all the time.........skyrim is an unpolluted northern province.....mostly it should be crystal clear ok!

Lens flare type effects.....why in gods name? Is that what you see with your eyes....NO

I just hope upon hope that all those trailer shots were picked only for their fog effects and that most gameplay is not affected.

Finally.....dynamic depth of field......look.....the human eye has a noticable DoF only if you stare at two fixed objects at different distances

Our eyes automatically and naturally flick back and forth to keep filling in area with sharp renditions....so we don't NOTICE a signifucant DoF in real life......on a game screen....seeing blurry distance shots just cos there is a tree thats much closer to us....will be infuriating :(

I know we will have to see how it pans out.....but I am worried now that in Beth's quests to SHOW new stuff being applied they may have just ruined it all.......

Please if I am wrong.....somebody say it ain't true....

I doubt they will over do it with the fog, and if they do, there will probably be a mod to fix that.

I am not a fan of dynamic depth of view either. I am hoping its optional (with a toggle in settings) or can be modded out.

It depends, especially here in the US. I was able to download FO4 from Steam in about an hour, but I have a decent (35 Mbps) internet connection with no data cap. A lot of Americans, especially in rural areas, don't have access to that kind of connection, or just can't afford it. That was a huge reason why there was so much complaining about the "physical copy" of Fallout 4; the one that forced you to download 80% of the game files even though you owned the disc.

lol, i have a 8 Mbps connection, but i did it in lets say 8 hours. However after you download it once, you can back-up the most of it, so it shouldn't be a problem to re-install the game from scratch again.

It's only the first time, that hurts! :P

Heh. I get a third of a meg per second. But the real issue is data cap at 12 gig and no reset - it's a rolling 30 day setup.

For years, I lived on 56K dial-up only. I lived way out in the boonies, and my only other option was satellite through DirecTV, which at the time would have cost about $90 USD per month on top of the bill for the TV, and that only after laying out $600 for the equipment. I finally got a wireless connection through Verizon via an aircard, but I lived way out on the fringe of the coverage area and the signal was very shaky, with frequent drop-outs and reductions to 1X speeds. It wasn't until 2010 before I was able to get DSL through the phone company. It was probably comparable to what you have now, but at the time I was in heaven after what I had dealt with all those years prior. :)

I am very pleased with this announcement. I have played Skyrim on PS3 since release and I admit, I am very excited at the aspect of Skyrim having a whole new lick of paint which will look fantastic and other cool features ( not sure how many of you know but there is a lot more foliage added with the new graphics... Who's to say there's won't be more little features added?)

I feel that such negativity isn't warranted sometimes. Skyrim has got such a cult following that it makes sense for the remaster. I think we'd all be naive if we thought that Bethesda didn't have this in the pipe line all along.

PS4 with Modes to make my game that much more interesting and unique...? I'm all for it. I agree that the new forum will be nowhere near as good as this one though.

I HATE the new forums with a passion. That is a GREAT example of how NOT to do forum software! It's gonna svck when this is shut down! And no matter what I do the new site will NOT keep me logged in. I have to log in EVERYTIME. So annoying.

From what I have read about "Skyrim Remastered," Bethesda is only making it look better. No where, do I see reference to bug fixes. :nope:

The good news appears to be that it will work with "old" mods.

I'm not too worried about bug fixes. Mods mean we could possibly get the unofficial patches, and they fix way more than Bethesda ever does.

You were better-suited those days. My first modem was at 14.4 KBit/s. lol

I my friend used an acoustic coupler in the 70's. Ha - Ha can you imagine that?

Having mod support is absolutely no excuse for not fixing very obvious and gamebreaking bugs. Like the infamous save bloat bug, Beth definitely knew about it from the beginning yet never fixed it. If SE still has that bug, it's beyond unforgivable lazyness.

You are missing the point. It's good that modders have made patches for Elder Scrolls games, but it is actually Bethesda's responsibility to make fixes for these games. The remaster presented them with an opportunity to do so, and they appear to have let it slide. What does this tell you about Bethesda?

That their games are buggy and always will be. And that there's nothing anyone of us will ever do to change that.

All games are buggy to some extent. That is still no excuse for the devs not to fix very obvious and reported bugs.

Beth never fixed several critical bugs, even though countless people must have reported them. If SE still has those bugs, it's beyond unforgivable.

I would add the lip sync bug to that list, also.

And the flora respawn bug. Like lip sync, the flora respawn bug was created by one of Bugfesta's official patches. The more they try to fix, the more they break.

Anyone knows if the save bloat bug is fixed on the Legendary unofficial patch?

If yes, then it shouldn't be a problem. If not, i don't thing Beth devs will fix it, but most probably the USLEEP Project team.

USLEEP does fix the clean up issue that causes save game bloat, but lip sync and flora respawn are not fixed by USLEEP. Those require seperate patches that rely on SKSE, so those fixes won't make it to console unless Beth incorporates them into the new game.
