So I currently own a disc copy of skyrim on the Playstation 3, Will I be able to get my free copy on the Playstation 4 or will I need to own a digital copy of the game?

from what we know, it seems only PC users are getting the free copy, and only if they already have the game and all the DLC on their steam account.. console aren't getting the freebie as far as we know
I believe the reason PC users get the free copy is because of console mods believe it or not.. since the mods for console are still going to have to be made by the PC community (i highly doubt they would try and port the CK to consoles for various reasons), they are giving the PC users the upgrade free so they would make mods that could be used on the console version..
I've also heard it said that it's easier to verify ownership for PC players, since we all had to download, update, and register through Steam.
Well what if console players have it baught through the Playstation Store on their console?
I haven't seen anything to indicate they would get the upgrade free so far
then they rebuy the newer release for their next-gen console
as stated, only the PC crowd gets the free upgrade from what we have heard
And I seriously doubt that there would be many PC sales if they charged for it, since we can go beyond most of the visual improvements with mods.
The reality is that console mods won't work without an active PC modding community, and Bethesda knows they have to provide the modding tools free to that community.
exactly, thats what i was talking about in the first reply
Rick sweetheart. you're one in a million. That's the problem. Beth has made (again) second class citizens out of console users.
Very true. I'd pay the same amount I paid for the Legendary box - around $75 US (since I bought it the second it was available....)
Um. Yeah. I figure over the years since Arena (my first TES game), Beth is into me at least $500. Maybe more. I kind of ..... lose track.... But I don't regret ONE PENNY. Not one.
Almost the same here. I had Skyrim for PS3, then i bought it for PC, and now i wait for the SE edition. Well...
It's the same with me. I've purchased at least six copies of Morrowind and its expansions and almost the same number of copies of Oblivion and its expansions. Add on one copy of Fallout 3 and two copies of Skyrim (and expansions) and I have handed over quite a bit of money. But I too think it was worth every penny. I don't think I've gotten a better deal in my life.
Yep. Though no matter what I've bought of the FOs - well.... I just can't play them. So - call it donating to Beth keepin' on keepin' on.
I don’t mind paying for the Special Edition for my PS4. Given the amount of time I have played my multiple copies on PS3, Xbox, and laptop, the cost comes out at pennies per hour. Pretty good deal to me.
360:
Skyrim:
3 "regular" disc's...the 1st on 11/11/11... ( the 1st I lost to 3 dog's and a squirrel )
1 Legendary disc
digital download Dawnguard & Hearthfire
Oblivion:
2 regular disc's
1 GOTY disc
Morrowind:
1 Disc
PC:
1 Anthology on Disc
They have me for a couple pennies... and I will ( hopefully ) buy a disc for the X-box 1... if not... I'll think about the digital download... depends on the size, I might not be able to unless I "save" my data to the end of the month, specifically for that. I still, after 3 months have not downloaded the DLC's for DAI, that I paid for with the Disc..
Come on that's a lame thought process. All they needed to do was give them for $14.99, have console goers pay $29.99 then we're all happy getting a polished up and hopefully better performance game and for consoles mod support. There is the issue that they didn't fix any quests that were borked before they split and ran and I doubt they added anything new to the game either. So the price of the remaster is going to be VERY important. If it's anything more than $29.99 people will very angry
I have one mod that I will be more than happy to throw over the wall to the console community as a thank you. One of the biggest issues with Skyrim has been the 32-bit memory and DX9 limitations, so I'm hoping that the SKSE memory patch and ENBoost requirements will be history.
I wonder how long it will take the SKSE team to pick apart the executable though, as I do like to write a plugin or two in C++ rather than Papyrus.
Or better still, maybe Bethesda can supply their own C++ API... hint... hint...
It's not my "thought process." I'm just trying to guess at Bethesda's motive.
