Please make the snow... Useful.

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:02 pm

I woke up this morning to find snow covering my front and back yard ( rare since I live in Roswell, New Mexico  ) and saw my dogs various footprints. Instantly my brain jumped to how cool it would be if they made some quest where someone says they got robbed or something and they think the perp ran into the forest outside of town, but thats all the information they can give you, and you are forced to try to follow the footprints of the thief

I think it would be cool. But I doubt it will be in.

I doubt it wouldn't be in, since snow prints could rather easily be implemented in games about 4 years ago.

Now, when Skyrim is a game with a lot of its setting and environment in snow - with what it seems dynamic snow already confirmed - that just adds up to the probability that footprints in snow are (or will) be in the game.

I don't know if it could be used in thar way, but I'm sure they will do thing with snow. It has been mentioned a spell called "Snow trap". Take advantage of your environment!

Interesting. you see things in real life and you think of Skyrim first... hm...

so srsly, they did this in the first Metal Gear Solid. was kinda cool, was also fun to run in tight circles after the enemy picked the trail and watch them dumbly follow footprint to footpring, having them turn and turn and turn...

not much can be done to prevent that behaviour, so i don't think it'd be implemented... hope it is, but odds are low. we'd be lucky to see footprints at all.

Would be a great feature, even just to run across tracks while wandering around and follow them :)

Curiously, it was the first that came to my mind. It was cool to follow the trail of the enemies, surprise them and... let the CQC begin!

Snow is the most useless thing ever. I believe my shovel will agree, snow is the scurge of a young minnesota boy's free time.

But tracks? I'd be suprised if they weren't in. I just wonder if blizzards will be realistic. I sware, if they are this game's gonna give me nightmares. Blizzards...eheh...

It would be cool if we can put items in snow so later we can't find them.

YES! :ooo: That would be fun. Be walking along and get pegged by a snowball out of the blue! That would be awesome. And if you throw one at a guard, they might wind up getting in your face, putting you in the lockup if you don't have enough money. :D

To the OP: I live in Maryland and we get more snow up here, but this year it's not enough. :( I love snow. From what I've been reading, the game is supposed to be able to implement snow in a much more immersive way than Oblivion.

I can see the conversation now.

Sven: Hey Ole, why are ya covered in snow?
Ole: I'd rather not talk about it.
Sven: Ya saw another 'snowman'?
Ole: They're real!
Sven: Don't be such a dummy Ole! Next you'll be saying you saw a real live dragon.

PS: If there are no Sven and Ole refference in Skyrim, I will be very upset.

I've been seeing snow each winter for 18 years... So snow isn't new for me... But it must not be fun to live somewhere that if there's just a bit of snow, it's "the end of the world"...
