Please read my movie idea

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 5:03 am

I've been thinking about it for a while now. I have no experience in film and have just started college so don't expect professionalism! When I read the post of "should there be a film?" I said "no". I thought there really is no place for it.

After a long thinking session I came up with an idea that could work. First off scrap the idea of following the Vault Dweller (bear with me!). Instead make it follow through the eyes of different characters. Meaning branching storylines. My characters include a soldier before the war trying to find his superiors in a desperate attempt to help people (Cliched I know but we need action in the film). Another character is a bad guy/girl. Someoene who profits from the dispair of others. Also it should follow through the eyes of a crazed(maybe) trader who finds two kids and looks after them. The kids could be escapees from a vault attacked by super mutants. These characters could all meet up during the end of the films. Yes films. It would have to be a trilogy so it isn't rushed. Also the bad guy/girl could end up working with the Enclave as he/she is weak and needs allies.

Actor/actress ideas (what do you think?)

Soldier- Sam Worthington? (Avatar) (Stuck on that one!)
Trader- Steve Buscemi (Con Air) (I like it when he's quite funny and batty)
Bad guy/girl- Gary Oldman/Sigourney Weaver (The Book Of Eli/Aliens)(Both could make good baddies)
The kids- Dakota and Elle Fanning (WarOf The Worlds/Benjamin Button) (The fact they are sisters could work really well)

What do you think of my idea? It probably svcks but it would definetly be better than a stereotypical lone hero. I'm thinking along the lines of The Book Of Eli which I thought did the post-apocalyptic genre really well. Also the film would have to be an R/18. Also it should not be rushed. I also put this on IMDB btw.

Well, all I can say is Uwe Boll would love you. It's -unfortunately- exactly like the movies he makes. Cliched, full of inaccuracies and bearing little resemblance to the majority of the source material.

May want to rethink a few plot details.

1) Super Mutants didn't appear (Weren't even created) on the West Coast until a hundred years after the war, when they were created by the Master. The DC Supermutants probably didn't emerge from Vault 87 for a few decades at least. It's not even clear whether, the DC mutants include survivors from the original tests or whether they were all since created by other mutants. Either way, I can't see their appearence being immediate or even within several decades of the nukes being dropped, if it were there would literally be no living humans left in DC.

2)The Enclave made their first appearance some years after The West Coast SM's appeared.

I didn't know anything like that I'm new to Fallout! Should of said that just joined today and have only just bought the FAllout 3 goty 2 weeks ago

Also who is Uwe Boll?

Also the film could take place a 100 years after the war and not even in DC so it would make sense why there would be Super Mutants and Enclave soldiers. The vault could get attacked by RAiders or Talon company.

Another point. My film wouldn't have talking Super Mutants they would be more creature-like and woudln't carry guns they'd still use melee weapons though. An idea for a scene could be the trader and the kids travel to a small setllement (sp?) who panic when a Super Mutant Behemoth is spotted a few miles away and is making it's way there (not to get them just traversing the area) so the residents flee

ok dude i like your your charisma i would say its somewhere near 8 but the ideas your putting here are terrible and i mean this is=n the nicest way i am not flaming you but when you have a game like this you dont change alot of things like make super mutants talk yea make a few capable of speech like fox and uncle leo but not all and talon company mercs didnt apear until like the 2260's in dc i believe they should keep the story as is and D.C super mutants left vault 87 in 2078 just one year after the bombs http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/2078#2078 oh and if you dont already know what this is this is your new bible it will tell you all you need to know

Also who is Uwe Boll?

A film director. But only in the loosest sense of the title.

He's well known for making adaptations of video games and doing it badly at that. Many of his films have either bombed, gone straight to DVD or been so universally panned that a simple mention of them is enough to induce projectile vomiting.

He's unrepentant about how much his movies svck as he appears to be of the opinon that gamers are morons and will shell out big money for a film of their favorites game(s) regardless of how bad they are.

He's a stain of the movie industry and the video game adaptation industry.

[But to be honest Fallout isn't even one of my favourite games (Although it is fantastic) I just think that it would make a great film as long as it isn't turned into a complete action all guns blazing style film. If it has dark moments, genuine horror and a sense of lonliness then I really think Faloout would make agreat film

I would like it to be known that the film I'm talking about doesn't follow the story Fallout 3 it is based on it just in the Fallout universe with enemies. Also Lucas Simms is a must! Denzel Washington please!

Your idea is terrible. You're optimistic yes, but it's like you're completely retconning Fallout so it will be a post apocalyptic action shooter film. Try doing that to Fallout, and I promise you, there will be hundreds of thousands of angry fans ready to skin you alive. If you REALLY wanted to make a film that has a vast fanbase, you should find their biggest forums, conduct a poll on what should and should not be done to the series in your movie, ask for the rights to make one. The movie isnt about what YOU want, it should be about what your fans want.

Think what you want but I definetly don't want it to be an action shooter film. That's what I want to avoid. I'm not saying I want to make it because as I mentioned I have no experience. I understand that you and everyone on this site know more about Fallout and have been a fan for longer

My fear if they do a film is it will be as you describe "a post apocalyptic action shooter" It would be good if it hadsome drama/horror to it. If I was to make it (Like that would happen) the I would definetly consult the creators of Fallout to further understand the history and setting of the series. It wouldn't be good, in my opinion, to follow the Vault Dweller because the Dweller is YOUR character and that's why I thought of this idea as an alterantive
