Please release high-res texture and DX11 patch Crytek.

Post » Sun Mar 29, 2009 5:46 am

PC gamers all feel let down about Crysis 2 being a Console port. Please Crytek release this patch. I defended Crysis 2 for 2 years against all kinds of trolls until launch day. Then my faith and loyalty gets rewarded.....with this? Everyone who wants a high-res texture and DX11 patch (at the very least high-res textures) please post here. Crytek actually listen to their community. That is why they are my favorite developer. I still have faith that Crytek can set things right with the PC community by doing this.

Graphically the PC version of Crysis2 is not where it should be. I find it hard to believe Crytek don't have something up their sleave here perhaps to coincide with Nvidia's launch of the GTX590, or maybe it just isnt working right yet, I wish they would come clean about it. Maybe its related to the leaked beta and they want to make sure they don't end up giving it away to people that shouldnt have it?

The texture res is an odd one, some of the textures are ok (e.g. sandbags) others are not so good (most stone surfaces), and others are pants (laptop screens). Overall the lighting and shadows don't look right to me...

Actually thinking about it, they probably don't want the PC making the consoles look too far behind for reasons of sales, that would make the most sense.

This means that there is a possibility of there being a higher DX version patch. I look forward to what Crytek are planning to do with the slightly fail PC version. Not even MP works LOL.

The dx10/dx11 folders are likely resources from older builds. dx11 was removed as a feature from the cryengine 3 site. I wouldn't be waiting for the magical dx11 patch. dx10 is pretty useless compared to dx9, so its not even worth hoping for.

So........after 4 years......this is what we get. I hope that EA are the reason for this obviously rushed and unfinished product. They might as well have released it last year. Pointless delay.
