For a long time I have wondered about these perplexing questions:
Why does Jiub say "Quiet here comes the Guard" when in fact you haven't said anything to him?
Why does that Imperial Guard on the Prison Ship say "The sooner you leave the sooner we can move on?"
Why does the Census Officer keep asking you questions about your family when he knows you don't have one?
Why does everyone sniff so much in Morrowind?
In playing Morrowind I often wished:
I could talk back to those who were being rude to me.
That I didn't have to kill every crazed bandit, mudcrab and shambling undead I met.
That Jiub would one day follow me off the Prison Ship and obtain his destiny.
That Ygfa would finally discover some medical condition that leaves her speechless.
So... I decided what the world really needs is a little of this...
http://1drv.ms/1NKTFUi... in association with Bethesda
So what does this mod offer?
Film
An amazing documentary filmed in Cyrodiil by my own son of Jiub's journey to Morrowind, though it might have been the Prisomer's I can't remember.
Fully voiced conversations
Fully voiced male and female protagonists (prisomers) - the vocal range has also been cleverly tuned for underground resonance to give extra... well... resonance when you give a witty retort to an angry Bandit or dessicated skeleton (maybe that should be desecrated I'm not sure).
Your new voice while vocal is also fully subtitled uniquely for male and female (regional dialects may need additional translation, e.g. Scottish I just couldn't get the Burr right).
You may speak on demand without activating the dialog.
NPC's will respond to your new voice with their own random responses. This will vary from race to race and male to female.
Even better sometimes you will find yourself just talking to yourself, because these things happen.
New beginnings
The entire Prison Ship and registration sequence has been changed, now you will find out exactly why they are eager to get you off board, take your time and enjoy conversing with each one even the Redguard on deck will want to speak warmly with you (or is that heatedly?)
A whole new conversation with the Census Officer and much more refined answers to his many pointless questions.
A challenging new birthsign that levels up with you.
Jiub will now make his own way off the ship and also get registered.
A better explanation of how to play the game awaits you in the Census Office.
New Combat
Tired of swinging and missing now you can put terror into your foes hearts by a clever use of re-engineering existing animations.
Read The Firmament in Seyda Neen to learn how to fight like a pro.
Or watch http://www.iforce.co.nz/i/jryt4vbz.gz4.gif to see it in action
Lore unfolds before your eyes
Who needs to play Dawnguard to learn Jiub's end story when you can see it unfold in real time before your eyes.
Shoot the breeze with him as he tells you in person his incredible adventure as you follow him around Vvardenfell at the many Inns, Pubs, Taverns, TradingPosts frankly anywhere he can get a mazte. Help him become the mer he was meant to be.
Play with Ygfa
Does this knowitall healer clog up your dialog box, sort her out once and... well actually just sort her out as many times as you like.
Upset the spymaster
Do you play it safe and never get to hear him scream at you for messing up the main quest? Well now you can enjoy him screaming at you and still play it safe.
Curses
There are many, this mod gives you a huds up though and lets you know through new spell icons when you are powered up, no more guessing.
Oh did I mention you are cursed?
Yes not only did your parents abandon you at birth, you became a notorious criminal who was banished to Morrowind, but you also have a rather sad and serious condition which is absolutely lore correct according to Bloodmoon and the Todd Howard Canon, and yea he sayth unto the unclean masseth "Write it into the results box for dialog so that they'll never see it" upon which the developers all said #####.
Many NPC's at first won't appreciate your condition but as your personality grows some races will warm to you.
Ayleid
For those of you versed in Tamriel language there are some Ayleid references that will make sense to you. For everyone else the Ayleid's are long dead so it doesn't matter.
Readme.
This is immensely long and ponderous so I will post the significantly edited highlights of it in spoiler tags and try to summarize it below:
***************************************************************************
So what's this Mod all about?:
***************************************************************************
This mod is:
The spiritual successor to Necessities of Morrowind - extra spiritual if you select Monk Class
The natural devolution of Better Bodies - think of it as Natural Bodies 101
Combat Enhanced - introducing new ways of casting spells, just eat and sneak
Life changing for Jiub - help him finally escape that cursed ship and discover his destiny or at least get some fresh air
A pacifist's dream - now you need never kill the undead again, just pacify them and go about your tomb raiding
***************************************************************************
How to install the mod:
***************************************************************************
If you use linux you don't need any instructions on how to install mods, as you are already excessively clever, paranoid, or cheap... possibly all three. You can command line to Step 6.
Otherwise follow these steps.
Step 1. Unzip the mod to where you normally unzip things - the desktop, download folder, wherever is safe.
Step 1a. WAIT!!!!!! Do you have an altered .ini file?
If yes - first back that up i.e copy it and save it as Mrrowind.ini.backup
If you don't have a modified .ini file don't worry - I have included a clean spare one in a back up folder should you ever wish to go back to it. Shucks you're welcome.
Step 2. Now drag the folder Morrowind onto your Morrowind install folder - DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR DATA FILES FOLDER - YES I AM SHOUTING SORRY ABOUT THAT.
Where were we..?
Yes drag the folder Morrowind onto your Morrowind folder.
It will ask if you want to overwrite the Morrowind.ini file - say yes - unless you have a modded one and haven't followed step 1.
It will ask if you want to write over the Bookart, Icons, Meshes, Sound, Textures, and Video folders - say yes.
Have you done that? Good...
... this is the part where we all throw our heads back and laugh... hahahahhahahhaha
Step 3. Do you have Hrnchamd's Morrowind Code Patch (MCP) 2.2 or higher? If not go get it from Nexus - the 2.2 version look for it under Skunkworks - how ironic.
Step 4. Install MCP 2.2 or higher tick whatever patches you want but make sure you definitely select:
1. 'Incorrect inventory sounds fix'
2. 'Hi-def - cutscene support'
Press install and your game is now stable and better than ever, see what a helpful don't eat me this is, already your game is patched and almost ready for Tympany.
Step 5. Go to the Morrowind launcher select Data Files and ensure Tympany is checked
Step 6. When you first start the game and eventually get to the menu screen open Options and 'select ON for Subtitles'. Congratulations - your character will now have a voice that speaks in a Universal language... regional dialects may vary, subtitles may need translation or a dictionary for any unknown words.
Step 7. Go to next section... how to play the mod like a pro.
***************************************************************************
How to play the mod like a pro:
***************************************************************************
First start by taking deep breaths of fresh air, rotate your shoulders in elliptic motions 5x forwards then 3x backwards.
Now boot up Morrowind, is everything black? Are you running MGE XE?
Yes - then try reading the readme on how to set up MGE XE unless you run linux in which case you already meant for the screen to be black.
No - you have set everything up like a pro. So select new game, watch the movie, talk to Jiub, talk to the Guards, go register at the Census Office, if you wish to be the prisoner you were meant to be answer his questions about your class give him time to speak and your character time to respond then select the new birthsign.
Did you select the new birthsign?
*snip*
Did you follow the directions in Seyda Neen to not eat anything?
*snip*
Did you die? Did you have MCP 2.2 Installed?
No - bad luck you failed to follow the install instructions - try playing with Better Body mods instead of this one.
Yes - bad luck it happens to me sometimes as well try the next step.
*snip*
Did you talk to Jiub?
Yes - well done you are playing like a pro.
No - why are you even playing this mod? Restart and go talk to him, also keep an eye out for him as he has his own adventure around Vvardenfell and could use your support to find his destiny.
