I think those trolls must of made the better of you.

Don't worry about it. Crysis is it's own. It does not ever follow other games, so you shouldn't worry.

Otherwise, well, it would end up being crap.

I wouldnt worry about it, Crytek tends to be a unique company that rewards skill and teamplay. Atleast, that is how the company has been so far... ;)

I don't know why everyone complains about the simplification and streamlining =/ Yes, it is less complex and less free now, BUT we'll have way more action now and less walking arround plus many more people will play it now, which means the MP will be cooler.

Well, since I don't play any of the PS3's FPS games online I'm not concerned with how the MP mode turns out. Too many morons make the prospect of playing in MP mode more of an annoyance then a good time.

Come on guys, MW2 is played by about 10 million people a day. That should speak for its success ;)

@ CorruptSoul: That statement is one of the most ass backwards things i have ever heard.

That game was a complete failure in my eyes. Why? Because they couldnt make the game any better than Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Activision messed up the series completely by ruining Infinity Ward, and many people leave out the fact that COD4 is still the most played FPS (atleast on PC). Not to mention the hackers and complete middle finger Activision gave to their community. Modern Warfare 2 was only "successful" because of Call of Duty 4.

They also leave out the fact that 99% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Yeah? Then Crysis should be made into a MMORPG like WoW by your way of thinking and with cartoon graphics.

They are already incorporating that class thing, like engenier and assault and sniper.

MP is turning into a generic shooter.

Crysis 1 and Warhead was all about not being a linear shooter with alot of ways to complete your objective and such AND so was the MP!

Now look we have classes! =D **being sarcastic**

Woopty **** doo!

@Talon
EA and Activision are companies, neither of them cares about the Community. Only if they can get more money out of it, as they did with BC2. They promoted dedis as something super special and used the community, which was pissed by MW2 having no dedis. Does BC2 have Mod support? Does it have DLC's? If you don'T remember: WE USED TO GET MAPS AND CONTENT FOR FREE. And YES, A lan mode used to be standart just as a mod sdk. But no... now they leave it out to sell their dlc's better.

Note: This doesn't apply to every company out there! Valve, for instance is doing a great job =)

On Crysis Wars:
Apparently, the current concept of the MP doesn't work out, or why are there only a thousand people playing a day <.< comparing to the 10 million of MW (2)
And MW and MW2 do have classes. Apparently most people like classes.

Well, the one nice thing about Crysis, Crytek gives out a decent editor and supports LUA, C++, and FlowGraph. So its easy to mod. I'm surprised we didn't get a lot of really good mods for Crysis. Probably because the hardware requirements were too high and it just didn't catch on well. Hopefully, with lower requirements this time, things will be better. So, if the classes and such turn out to be crap, some good modders can just mod all that crap out.

What does it really matter if its noob friendly? The more people playing MP the better as far as I am concerned. I really enjoy Crysis and Wars but there are very few MP servers left and a scattering of players spread across what is there. Bring on the noobs if it means more players, more fodder for the rest of us ;-)

I've been playing PC games both online and off since I was like 10 and I can say right now Ive never heard of Xfire, and I think I could say that safely about all my PC gaming friends, so I don't know why anyone would use it as a reference.

Just to add, that's not to say since I don't use it everyone doesn't use it. I just think it'd be silly to use the stats Xfire gives as to whats most played as its merely a microcosm of the PC gaming community. that being said, samples of theses stats certainly do help paint a picture, but only part of it.

Xfire does lean a bit towards clan gameplay and competitive players. I can see how some people could play for years and not use it. Same thing could be said for teamspeak or ventrillo, not much use if you play solo.

Having said that, it gives a very good representation of what "gamers" are playing. Most noobs are not going to use it because they don't know about it and don't put enough time into gaming to have much use for it. But most of your experienced players have developed sufficient relationships to need a good form of gamer communication at some point or another.

I play plenty of FPS's and I've been in clans (though none recently) and we still never used Xfire, that doesn't mean that people Ive played with though haven't used it and just never mentioned anything.

I would argue Xfire doesn't bring anything of unique value to the table and thats why it isn't more widespread.

Well, i dont see any better stats being brought out about the PC community play. Xfire tends to give a good "piece of the pie" about what people are playing. Does everyone use it? No. But i still think it is proportional to the whole picture, atleast enough to show that COD4 is played more.

60,000 vs. 15,000 is a big difference, even if it is only a piece of the pie. :)

There are stats available for online play beyond Xfire, Steam regularly releases stats (which approximately ties COD4 and CS:Source) and Games for Windows Live stats are released at least semi-regularly, I was never saying your assumption is wrong, I'm just saying using Xfire as the sole factor for determining for whats popular or not might not be the wisest move, as there are many determining/mitigating factors. Statisics are always tricky.

For example, we can say 'of the people who use Xfire more of them play COD4 than COD2.' What we can't say is the same percentage of COD2/4 players that DON'T use XFire is the same percentage of people who DO use Xfire, and therefore it's safe to assume they are nearly identical. that's not to say they won't be similar in most cases, but the idea is to get a picture of the community, not the picture thats easiest to find and sits easiest with the viewer. Just like with all statistics, if you don't gather all the data possible then it would be hard to determine outliers and anomalies.

Ventrilo is a good example, if they were into the data mining game and was posting stats for what people used vent for, that would be all well and good, but it would also be silly to assume the numbers would apply to teamspeaks use. It would also be silly to assume they would be vastly different, but they would certainly be different due to several factors, probably the foremost being price.

Just to give you a taste of these joint statistics, Compate the COd2 peak players on xfire to the peak players on steam. Also it looks like counter-strike is still the most FPS played if we combine original and source. (going on a billion years now ;))
