Please separate saved games per character

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:55 pm

I like to run more than one play through at a time on your games. It would be awesome if on the main menu you picked your character before you picked which saved game to load. That would be the most helpful thing.

I've used saved game managers for Skyrim and the other Fallouts, but no one should have to do that and people playing on consoles are extra screwed.

I agree, we would also need that if mods are to be implemented.

Absolutely agreed. That's one thing I really liked about Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect.

I agree. Separate save files for each character would be awesome. That occasional time that I accidentally override another character can be really irritating.

Agreed!

I'd also propose having a brief overview of our stats if possible in the save/character select menu.

Like Dragon age and Mass Effect?

I agree, 100%, Especially for people like me who has a huge number of alts! It will also make things less messy instead of having all the save files thrown in one giant list. :)

Yup, definitely. One of the reasons I rarely play multiple characters simultaneously in a Bethesda game is because there's no save separation. Having the name in the save file is all well and good, but it's a lot safer & more convenient to have totally separate save profiles for each character to avoid any overwriting. This is one feature I'll be disappointed to see absent from the game.

I'm on board. What I do right now is rather tiresome... I just manually move my saves to another folder I've titled "Fallout X Saves" with each of my characters labeled. Just move them over when I want to play a certain character... but I have to exit the game every time I want to switch characters.

The functionality has been in the engine since at least Oblivion :whisper:
As is named saves.
They have been requested for every game too.
But BGS has quite the selective hearing

I love the idea. Hopefully, there is time to implement it in a day 1 patch.

I thought you could just make different users on your PC or console to make this easier.

I would like this as well as I will likely be running multiple characters along side each other to spot any noticeable differences.

Yessir 100% agree, character tabs would make life a LOT easier instead of a big jumbled mess of saves which my stupid flatmates delete by accident.

I always did that manually on the PC, but with mods coming to Xbox (and perhaps PS4 eventually also) - this is a MUST.

When you are on save #3784 and you have lost track of which characters were which, that's why when it comes to Bethesda's games I've had to completely wipe away old the characters when wanting to start a new one. Please add in a character based save splitting for all our characters' survival.

Yeah, when I started Origins I was like "... whycome Fallout no got this?!" It hurt my brain so much that it didn't that I couldn't talk right for a day.

I like it!

This has always been a deficiency in Bethesda games (also, the lack of being able to name a save) but I'm pretty sure that if this wasn't put in place early on, this thread is not going to get it added (at least at the game code level). Now it could get added easily via the launcher that they normally have to "manage" mods and DLC files (or whatever they are going to use for mod management on the consoles).

This would be such an obvious enhancement. To take it a bit further, I'd like the most recent autosaves to stick around on a per character basis. For example, if I haven't manually saved in a while, it would be nice to switch over to a new character without having it overwrite the first character's autosaves. More than a few times I had to open a character's autosave, manually save, then exit and start a new game. It's not that intrusive I guess, but it would be nice.

I would really like that. Skyrim's three auto saves actually helped me out a lot but it would've been nice to get new auto saves for different characters.

Oh, hell yeah. I always forget to save in Skyrim, but not so much in Fallout 3 because of the fact that it crashes every 10 minutes or so. I get that FO3 save OCD after a while. The auto saves are just another reason to split the saves per character.
