Anyone else counting on that we will be seeing a few thousand variations of "Drizzt"?
After all, people like them drow.
SERIOUSLY! ? Whos Raistlin...? Theres no hope for fantasy epics.
LOL, I'd give up a character slot to stop that.
It pains me to hear fans of fantasy games not know this one.
I always commend people who actually get those names. While certainly not original, you have to hand it to them for being first to the punch.
Now what I can't stand are the variations that follow. Legolaas, Leggolas, LegoIas (that's a capital I by the way), Légolas, Lególas, Légólas.. you get the idea; a million times over.
Besides the guy who doesn't know who Raistlin is this topic is worth its salt. I cannot stand people who have stolen names from popular books/movies/ect or have names like Boobookittyphuck. Go play second life or runescape and leave us to our RPG! I for one will be reporting any and all names that are not ment for this lore soaked game.
A stock character from the rather second-rate AD&D novels. He was a whiny, bitter mage that all the angsty pre-pubascent kids thought was cool. Well, what passed for cool at that age. Drizzit was from the same novels, sadly.
Buttus Smellicus
Biggus dikeus
Milfslayer 3000
Bigdike_10inch
Luthien
Aragorn
Boromir
Faramir
Merlin
Yeah, unless they're offensive though they won't do anything. There's nothing against the rules saying you can't call your Khajiit "Hello Kitty" regardless of how lore breaking those names are. At the same time, I often feel cheated out of certain names, simply because they've been used in books or films. People should remember that names aren't unique in life; almost ever, so why should they be in a fantasy universe? If someone wants to call their character Triss, Geralt, Boromir or Gandalf, simply because they like the name, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to. Just because they have their name doesn't mean they're trying to emulate them.
No matter what you call your character; it's not entirely original; it was inspired by something - somewhere, even if it's unbeknown to you yourself.
You'll be spending almost all your time reporting then..
Some people, including myself, play the game for reasons other than the lore.
And of course:
Adolf Hitler
Josef Stalin
Saddam Hussein
Wladimir Putin
etc etc
I played last beta with Joffrey Baratheon, Harry Potter and Aunt Jemima.
Not your typical ESO experience.
I spent the better part of my teen years in love with him. Not only was he whiny and bitter, he was a hack. Having an archlich in your head is totally cheating.
Are these names even allowed, according to the terms of service?
I played the previous beta with a Bre
I had a Breton named Merci Beaucoup (French for "Thanks a lot")
I'll stick to reporting names like Niggerkiller, Fagbuster, AdolfHitlerFan, Bigdike10Inches and so on....
Now that i tought about that, I might get epic names and sell them for money ;..;
I'm glad I have early access to reserve my characters special names
