Please tell me there will be water-life

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:21 am

I know there wasn't any information released on waters AT ALL, but I just want to state that previous TES games made me want to completely avoid swimming in the water, and not because I was afraid, but because it was dull and boring, there was NEVER something new, and it was just soooo empty. I've seen amazing-looking screenshots from Skyrim, the environments look GREAT, they invested beautifuly with the LOD and the clouds, the fog, the ground, the weather, they even gave us creatures that can fly which I kinda missed in Oblivion. However, I didn't see anything being said or even suggested about the water-life this time, and I don't want that experience of an empty lifeless water with bad-taste and bad appearance. what do you think?

Would a fishing rod be classed as a two handed weapon?

I hope they don't make it so we can't equip the fishing rod like we couldn't in the older TES games...

I don't really think there is anyway of truly knowing if there is going to be aquatic life unless Bethesda says there will be life. I do really hope there will be some form of life underwater besides slaughterfish though :P

I didn't mean the actual lives under the water, I also mean plants, I also mean rocks and detail, heck, detailed environment, hopefuly they will implement this feature in the game as well, you know, detailed environment underwater...

I sure hope so. It has always bothered me that the Elder Scrolls have never developed their underwater much. I always wanted to see a thriving underwater community. Maybe some underwater bosses/ strong sea creatures like a giant sea monster or something.

- Plant Life, Fish, Rocks, Hidden chests.
- Rare stuff like a Sea Monster very very far but you can't fight it since it's too far from land / sunken ship filled with treasures

As for me I would like to see just random fish swimming around instead of having every fish a hostile one...

I'm sure it said somewhere, maybe GI,that fish jump out of the water in streams/lakes etc.
So hopefully we'll see more in the way of underwater life :)
Oh and i want to be able to fish too

It would be great if they can add them for people that want them, but the more I think about it, I don't imagine I'll be going in the water much. I just can't get over how cold the water will be. Anyone that has never been in glacial streams and lakes knows how cold they are. Not to mention the ocean. I just don't think I can get past my knowledge of such things.

It would be interesting to see if they keep it real and not put them in the glacial areas, but do put them in the ocean. For those that don't know, glacial streams and lakes don't have fish due to all the silt in the water.

Obsidian worked at that with New Vegas. Hopefully Bethesda will learn from that.

Morrowind had hidden temples under the water but in Oblivion they were lacking. I've always thought there is a lot of room for exploration in the oceans if Tamriel. Something that kinda gets neglected when people talk about future games.
I think James C is making Avatar 2 about the oceans of the planet and it sounds kinda cool.

Think how much the game-world could be expended if they also used most of the water! it'll feel MUCH bigger than Oblivion :)

I'm thinking that they will end up with some detail in the least, they are talking about all the diffrent kinds of landscapes, would make sense to make underwater one all it's own. although I won't complain if they dont add sea monsters, I'm terrified of open water as is, heheh.....heh...ehh..*gulp*

I sure hope so. If Bethesda put in the effort to make snow completely realistic, I'm sure they would at least put some fishes in the water.
