Please think carefully before investing in season pass.

Up till now the Fallout title has been a sure bet, that's why I pre ordered F4 the second I could.

Bethesda though, has proven to us they can't be trusted, as well as many other game makers, so the OP is right.

After butchering F4 I can only imagine what terrible things they might have in mind for their DLC. Probably a few shoot them up missions on tiny maps all for the same value of the parent game. Don't trust Bethesda!

Bethesda also made Skyrim, and their DLC was pretty huge. So odds are looking up again.

That article seems to be written from the viewpoint of numberless little, $2 DLC's that give you specially colored armor or a new weapon or some such. Not for huge content like Dawnguard or Dragonborn. I'll buy the season pass.

LOL

I have nothing against Obsidian, Interplay or any studio or publisher. But I find the incessant horn-tooting of Obsidian around these parts to be tiresome. FONV was a good game. So was FO3, so is FO4. Bethesda and Obsidian I'm confident completed their contractual arrangements by which Obsidian was given permission to develop a game set in the Fallout Universe (a piece of Intellectual Property owned by Bethesda, if not Zenimax since Interplay sold the rights to them owing to their financial woes in 2006).

There is absolutely NOTHING objective better or worse about FONV, FO4, FO3, FO2, FO1, or any other game or other entertainment product ever made. They are all works of art, and art can only be judged subjectively. There are no empirical standards by which to determine their quality or effectiveness.

So every time any one of us says "Apples svck, oranges rule" we are merely stating our opinions, no matter how strongly felt or oft repeated they are.

Had it not been for Bethesda/Zenimax having the prescience to have purchased the Fallout IP when Interplay was sinking in bankruptcy, who knows what might have become of the Fallout Universe. Perhaps it would have gone quiet, and dormant; Such has happened to plenty of other fictional and gaming universes. We have yet to get anything that reincarnates the System Shock universe, and myriad other studios and publishers and their creations have gone quiet over the years.

Thank you Bethesda for saving Fallout, thank you for loving it like it was your own little baby.

Stalker died because no one picked it up and loved it. Now it's only the mods.

Not a widely held sentiment, I'll say that much.

If Fallout 4's DLC is anything like Fallout 3's DLC quality and structure, I will be a bit wary of it. Though if it is anything like the larger DLCs/expansions/whatever you want to call it that are the likes of Shivering Isles or Dragonborn, I would definitely feel inclined to get it.

Still, in regards to season passes, I'll say what I always say about them: If you know you're going to play the game extensively and trust the company behind it well enough, invest in it. If not, don't. Wait and see. It's that simple.

Mmmm, true to an extent, but I don't think Beth/Zen tore Fallout from the "spouses" arms forcefully and shot them in the head! :o

Either you are going to buy the DLC or not.
There's nothing suggesting the price isn't worth it.
If you don't like the game, maybe it isn't for you (no dlc is really going to change that), but this notion that Bethesda is going to put out crap DLC because they already have your 30 bucks is pretty silly.
After all of the sales start slowing down, there will be a an edition that comes with all DLC included. As a business, why would they limit sales of these copies, by putting out crap DLC? Businesses like to make money, not just up front, but for as long as they can. DLC is key for this.

1. We aren't talking about a company that has a history of DLC being a different skin to play your character as. Bethesda has a proven record of worth while DLC.
2. Here's an idea. You do what you want to with your hard earned money and I'll do what I want to with mine. -oh and OP I bought my seasons pass at the same time I bought my pre-order. Yes I am single handedly ruining gaming for you, and I've loved every minute of my 163 hours in Fallout 4 so far.

Gonna wait to see how everything is. I'll just buy the DLC's individually. Point Lookout was a buggy mess. It would have been cool had I not felt like the game was going to explode everytime I went there.

To have been a fly on the wall during those negotiations :chaos:

Actually I don't think it counts as a "takeover" but just as a simple "acquisition." "Takeover" would imply that Bethesda/Zenimax had purchased Interplay, which they definitely did not do. They know a radioactive tato when they see one.

They just simply purchased one of Interplay's most iconic creations. Like I said, everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it.

Poor Marcus Persson only got paid $2.5 billion bucks for his baby, and now the http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2015-07/notch-net-worth-isolation-twitter-outburst

They would have convinced me if they used DLC from game companies I ACTUALLY buy the product of. When I saw TitanFall and Farcry, I was not persuaded. I will buy the Pass if I want, or will not if I do not want (will still buy the DLC in this case anyways).

Not worried. Saves me the hassle of investing every time.

I know Beth. They'll get to everything eventually.

Well if you want to put it that way, nobody knew what they were buying when FO4 was released. So why did they buy it? Reasonable expectation of value. The same thing that drives damn near every luxury purchase since Gilgamesh first sold a cask of fermented wheat mash in Ur.

And oh look, another "lazy dev" post. Might be easier to believe if such posts weren't so lazy.

Here's an idea. Get to know some game developers and their families before you start smearing their work ethic. Your privilege is showing.

I bought the pass this time around. Not too worried if they go the Skyrim way. Dragonborn and Dawnguard were probably my two favourite questlines in the game, introduced tons of armor, crafting options and weapons, as well as new areas. Heartfire was just bonus stuff that I did enjoy. These DLC added to replayability for me.

Should have bought the pass for Witcher 3 now that I think about it...

Horse Armor. And TBPH, The Vile Lair wasn't especially good either. Also, I wasn't too fond of Hearthfire either, although I do know a good few people who though it certainly was worth it, just not me though.

But as for purchasing the season pass, I pretty much only play Beth games these days and know full well what to expect from them. Despite the criticisms of their games, I still do enjoy them, and find them well worth the money paid to get them.

How much DLC is typically included in these season passes, and can you buy a pass when the first DLC is released, or does the 'opportunity" magically go away at that point?
