I generally agree with the sentiment of the article and don't like the idea of a season pass for the reasons stated. I may end up getting it for Fallout 4, particularly if it goes on sale, because when it's all said and done I'll need all the FO4 DLC anyway. Too many of the best mods will have all the DLC as prerequisites and those mods will make even weaker DLC worth the price.
Bethesda usually does pretty good on DLC ... with some obvious exceptions. For Oblivion, they knocked it out of the park with Shivering Isles (which was actually closer to being an expansion), and Knights of the Nine was okay. The others were forgettable and inferior to the offerings of modders. Horse Armor is still a joke a decade later.
Fallout 3 DLC flopped with Mothership Zeta, and Operation Anchorage was underwhelming. But Broken Steel, The Pitt and Point Lookout were all worthwhile. With Skyrim Dawnguard was good enough, and Dragonborn rocked. Hearthfire was okay for it's lower price point and I did enjoy the content.
In fact, I liked Bethesda's DLC better than Obsidians New Vegas offerings. While I loved New Vegas, I wasn't happy with it's DLC. Honest Hearts was tedious at best. Dead Money was imaginative but a style of story that I hate. Old World Blues was a hoot ... fun and hilarious ... but so silly that it almost spoiled the game. Lonesome Road was pretty linear, but I enjoyed it. Many hated it, though, because they felt it contradicted their own character headcanon. Still, it allowed me to nuke Caesar's Legion.
