Please use SPECIAL

Hell no!

I don't want a Fallout game placed in a fantasy setting, I want an Elder Scrolls game.
The leveling system needs improvement, but Fallout is definitely not the way to go.

I can see why you might not like every element of Fallout gameplay to be copied to TES. But tell me please what's wrong with being able to select perks, having a Speech skill or hardcoe mode that makes the game more immersive because you have to eat, drink etc?

Both are their franchises now, and given how popular some elements from Fallout are, particularly the perks, I don't see why they shouldn't copy them over. For most players, Bethesda made Fallout too, and they know Fallout only from Fallout 3 and New Vegas anyway.

They do, but that does not mean that they should use Fallout's SPECIAL system on their more beloved game series? And risk that fan base will not like it (see poll)

There is no need for perks. Birthsigns, racial abilities and skills are already there.

And did you know that there is such skill in TES called "Speechcraft".

The hardcoe fans of Fallout did not like the changes in Fallout 3 either, but Bethesda's games are primarily being bought not by hardcoe fans of either series, but by regular gamers, most of whom probably don't visit this forum. And lots of these love things like perks, for example. Most people in this forum are hardcoe TES fans, the poll would be similar if in 2007 you asked people at NMA or other hardcoe Fallout fansite if they wanted Fallout 3 to be FPP.

Just like most gamers who are not hardcoe fans loved TES elements in Fallout, they will also love Fallout elements in TES.

Two words:
HELL NO.

The TES and FO universes are completely different from one another, I don't want to see SPECIAL in TES because then it would become FO.

Fallout is Fallout, TES is TES. No point in making them the same. Fallout also doesn't have magic, acrobatics, etc. so it would be very difficult to balance.

You keep bringing up the same argument and it hasn't changed anyone's mind about your proposal. Perhaps it's time to let it die, at least on this forum.

What would WoW players say if World of Warcraft suddenly started using DnD 3.5 rule set?

[Edit] About non-isometric Fallout 3. I hated it. (I'm also hardcoe Fallout fan)

What would Fallout fans say if Fallout 3 used first person perspective and real time combat instead of 2D turn based? And despite their negative reaction the game sold millions of copies.

I don't want a copy of Fallout's leveling system.
There should be perks, but not in the same way as it was done in Fallout. Perks should IMO be acquirable from quests, trainers and achievements, not from leveling up.

I don't see how you can relate speech and hardcoe directly to the SPECIAL-system. Those are not what I'm voting against...

Having the same system in both games would just be lame.

SPECIAL doesn't fit TES. You can't wear Converse shoes under a black suit.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I mean the way Speech works in Fallout 3 and especially New Vegas is much better.

Please DON'T use SPECIAL.

TES IS NOT FALLOUT!

Comprehende?

If you want to play Fallout, play Fallout. Let Bethesda make a TES game for those of us who want a TES game. We've just had not one but two Fallout games since Oblivion was launched.

Part of my first post:

Only thing I want from Fallout's is the way how Speechcraft/Speech is handled.

And by that I mean the "Speech checks" what are shown on dialogue. But that has nothing to do with SPECIAL system.
It is just basic die roll made while attempting to use your skill.

Agreed... but that still does not mean that TES should have Fallout's leveling, stats and perks system.

Special is lesser system than TES's system.

Skills you use go up. Using axes increases your axe skill.

Instead of:
Killing people or doing quests gets your lock picking skill up.

Why are you people so afraid of change? The old TES system is broken, you end up hopping from place to place to boost acrobatics, swinging your sword in the air etc. And in SPECIAL you have all the cool perks and traits. Just like Bethesda took parts of the TES gameplay to improve Fallout, they should now do the same with Fallout gameplay for TES.

It's certainly a lot better than killing something and using the experience to level your Speech skill. TES' system is only broken if you exploit it.
And by your logic, they should put Miniguns and Super Mutants into TES because FO3 had some of Oblivions game mechanics.
You also still haven't gave a valid explanation to why the SPECIAL system is better.

No, by your logic Fallout should have stayed 2D and they shouldn't have used the Oblivion engine because it has gameplay elements of another series.

Alright, it's obvious that this is an idea whose time hasn't come, at least around here. To give that dead horse a break and put a stop to the beatings, I'm shutting it down.
