Please use SPECIAL

Post » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:42 pm

I think Fallout's SPECIAL is a way better character system than the old Elder Scrolls one - with perks, traits etc. Now that Bethesda owns Fallout, I think you should use its superior character system for your new game too. Maybe even some equivalent of VATS too? And hardcoe mode would also be awesome.

So exactly why do you think SPECIAL is superior?

NO! Seriously... While I dont see myself as one of the diehard "THIS IS TES!!! (not Fallout)"-guys, this is just crossing the border. We got the TES skills and they will stay as they are. There is no need to rename the [censored] crap.

I would not mind selecting from some perks that become available after the right Attribute, Skill, and Level requirements are met. It could only help character specialization and customization to have stuff like perks to pick and choose from, but only if you can get a limited number of them. The rest can stay with fallout though.

No VATS, it just doesnt fit TES. hardcoe would be okay. And the current system is cool except for the few attributes that need to be improved on

I would prefer that TES keep it's differences from the Fallout series, including it's stats and leveling system.

Bethesda changed Fallout a lot incorporating ideas from TES. Why shouldn't it work the other way around as well?

You already got 2 fallout games.. please let us keep our TES. Thank you ^^.

You're talking like the NMA crybabies who complained about Fallout 3 being "Oblivion with guns".

It would just feel so wrong to have SPECIAL system taken from Fallout series and added it to TES.

I say NO.

Only thing I want from Fallout's is the way how Speechcraft/Speech is handled.

The same reason you wouldnt want the Elder Scrolls levelling system in Fallout games is the reason we dont want SPECIAL in Elder Scrolls.

Tell me how could Perception be a part of The Elder Scrolls?? In Fallout it was the red dots on the map which showed where the monsters were. If it they make that in Skyrim i'm gonna cry! Also VATS doesn't fit in a non-hightec world!

Why are you people so afraid of change? The old TES system is broken, you end up hopping from place to place to boost acrobatics, swinging your sword in the air etc. And in SPECIAL you have all the cool perks and traits. Just like Bethesda took parts of the TES gameplay to improve Fallout, they should now do the same with Fallout gameplay for TES.

No VATS, it just doesnt fit TES.

Why not? I'm sure you could explain it by magic somehow.

You're talking just like people from NMA who said that Fallout could not work on the Oblivion engine, and yet it sold millions of copies, much more than Oblivion in fact.

I do not care for VATS at all, but being able to make called shots without the stupid slow-motion tracking would be nice.

Never played Daggerfall?

swinging your sword in the air

What? What has that to do with anything?

It doesn't have to work exactly the same. It's not as if Perception worked the same in Fallout 3 as in Fallout 1 and 2, for example. It could be useful e.g. for archery.

And come on, don't tell me that perks aren't awesome. And the Speech skill, for example.

Flawed? If you want ot spend hours doing a boring repeditive task of self levelling then you deserve an award.

Not to mention the dev have in the past put limits on and even written training like that into the lore. (aka "Some powerful wizards have driven themselves insane by casting damaging spells upon themselves to better understand the arts").

I agree that the speech aspect from fallout should come over (since that needs some sort of overhaul anyway) but the other character traits shouldnt.

Fallout is fallout. Elder scrolls is elder scrolls. It's that simple. Just because they own both franchises it doesn't mean they should bleed into each other.
