Plot Prediction over New Trailer [Potential Spoilers]

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:37 pm

The launch trailer for Fallout 4 came out about fifteen minutes ago and goes a bit into the plot, which I want to talk about.

It seems as though the story will revolve around the Institute and Synths, along with paranoia about the two. I feel as though the plot points predicted as far back as when rumors were surfacing about location scouts in Boston are all being confirmed. I think the "plot twist" will almost certainly be that the protagonist is a synth and that is why they haven't aged a day despite it being two hundred years later.

The player at some point really urgently needs to find the Institute. I feel as though that's going to be because of some sort of maintenance or repair that they can offer you and you desperately need.

Now I want to hear from you guys. Thoughts? Counterpoints? What are the Brotherhood of Steel and the Supermutants up to?

If it turns out you are a synth I think we will hear a lot of complaining from people who don't like their character defined for them.
Loving the look of the skeletal synths. I wouldn't mind being one of them!

While not getting too much into leaks,

Spoiler
I can tell you that the PC is not a synth, and theres another reason why he survived for 200 years.

I wonder how many factions there are, apparently three, from what we can see in the trailer (Diamond City, BoS and those redcoat ghouls?). I hope we can side with one faction and take part in politics like F:NV, I really want to screw over the BoS. B)

Nothing unexpected in the trailer: the Institute is the main antagonist and three factions fight against it.

And it seems my prediction based on achievement list and Steam game info might be correct and we may have five different routes (spoilers for achievements):

Spoiler

- solo anti-Institute

- solo pro-institute

- BoS - destroy Institute and the Synths

- Railroad - save the synths from The Institute and the BoS

- Minutemen - protect the people

According to the Pipboy App there are 4 major join-able factions, BoS, Minutemen, The Railroad, and the Institute.

Honestly it would svck being a synth. It feels like a unnecessary twist.

The leader of the BoS on the airship certainly seems to be/feel like a certain snot nosed heir apparent from ten years ago.

People data mined the pipboy app.

They also know how many actual quests there are in the game(not counting seemingly repeatable settlement bases misc objectives)

From the trailer both BOS Dude and the Ghoul in the Red Coat uniform seem to be talking about the Institute as some sort of malevolent force, as though it was an organization that holds a great deal of power over the Commonwealth, or at least a good deal of looming influence.

The line "You don't find the institute, the institute finds you" sounds almost very Mafia-esque, hinting at the Institute itself being very secretive. Perhaps also playing at a much larger plot, perhaps involving synths, perhaps not.

Maybe everybody on earth is a Synth and the only true people anymore are ghouls.... if BS Galatica has any say over it. lol

I do see you turning out to be a synth a possibility, or your son or wife. There is an emphasis on them, so them surviving as being a synth could be a possibility.

If this is right I'm going to have a hard time picking between the BoS and Minutemen for my main Neutral Karma run.

Yes, it looked amazing in fact :o

I can already see mods to make it a playable race.

Could you PM me about it?

Maybe there's some sort of twist were you see your husband/wife and they're a synth. Whatever the plot point is, their voice sounded urgent (assuming that appears in the actual game, could just be for the trailer).

I actually would really appreciate that sort of development with Lyons BoS. Maybe they eventually transition into a pompous group of military elitists who everybody sees as butting into their problems.

I actually took that as meaning that the Institute isn't based in a single location (or at least not anymore). Maybe MIT is just where they come from and they have since dispersed across the Commonwealth.

I wouldn't even call that a spoiler, as the Synth idea was straw-grasping at best.

No, a spoiler would have been saying HOW you actually survive.

A very high possibility, but for them to do that, makes me think they are up to something. It makes me think the Institute has grown to the need for dispersal, or their plans and needs dictate that they do. It's cagey, and suspicious, which is what I think Bethesda is going for.

Do you choose to believe the word of others, or seek the truth from the Institute itself? Would you like the answer you find? Is it really the cancer BOS Dude says it is?

Ahhhh storytelling narrative...

How many are there? Skyrim level?

If it's cryogenics it isn't much of a spoiler.
