Plot twist; The enclave and the super mutants are good guys.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:20 pm

- The enclave are reclaiming america

- The enclave is one of the better hopes of reclaiming america, being scientificaly advanced and with clear structure.

- The protagonist, being pre-bombs, probably identifies with enclave values or methods.

- The enclave fight monsters and raiders. But they also view monsters as pottential assets. So although they're not going to be friendly with ghouls and supermutants, a portion of them are going to try to use them. Of course, there are going to be radical individuals with the kill-subhuman scum mentality to them, but that won't apply to all of them.

- Unlike the brotherhood of steel, are less likely to shake you down for tec.

(assuming not DC brand)

-Supermutants get super smart because FOV makes them so. They would therefore have good reasoning.

-Super mutants are individuals who maintain their personalities after transformation.

- There are female supermutants. Admitedly they loose some of their secondary sixual characteristics (No briasts confirmed. Wide hips probably not, feminine face is a maybe. uaginas confirmed, though they're infertile. Muscles is for sure, though I'm not sure if they grow broad shoulders or remain smaller as a female. Also; Do super mutants get hair?)

So, conclusion: some might be total dikes, but they might really be decent fellas.

- Also, They're 'super'. Make them powerful for that alone, ok?

Well, in the E3 gameplay the PC is fighting the Brotherhood of Steel. Stranger things have happened.

That sounds absolutely absurd to be honest. Even more so considering the Enclave are dead.

I wouldn't call BoS good guys. They're selfish technology hoarders who don't care about people who could use that tech to rebuild society. If anything they're shades of grey.
Enclave is trying to rebuild the world back to the old days. Not necessarily a good thing because those ways is what caused the world to burn

In some of the older fallouts the BoH have been percieved as merciless in their search for tech. The ones from DC were different in the sence they aimed to help the wasteland - which gave elder lyons a poor reputation among the leadership. New vegas' dead money expressed how even someone with good intentions, like a brotherhood elder, could do bad in his quest for pre-war treasures
Even though the enclave has never really shown a good side but give fallout 4's twists (different levelling system, begining pre war, odd vault) the fact the gameplay trailors hints your charaters pre war job was military and shows you shooting brotherhood could mean you end up working for the enclave.

The Enclave on the East Coast are remnants of remnants now. There's no way they're doing anything, but keeping their heads down and going on about their lives, like in New Vegas.

And Enclave joining with Super Mutants is just ridiculous.

To have good guys and bad guys would just be too easy. I think every faction will be a different shade of gray. That makes it more worthwhile to replay the game and make a different decision.

The Midwest BoS recruits from local tribes. The Capitol Wasteland BoS is less inclusive, but still works to defend the locals from the Enclave and Super Mutants. Only the West Coast BoS remained completely closed off and dedicated to technology, and that got them largely killed off.

Dear god, how many times can the Enclave be resurrected? We've already had them do a tactical retreat from the West Coast and pull resources out of thin air to justify their presence. Let them die already.

The Enclave, the good guys...

Minus the forced Slavery and horrid work conditions when they were excavating Mariposa...

...Capturing an entire Tribe for experimentation...

...Openly killing anyone they deemed a "mutant" with extreme prejudice...Which is anyone born outside in the wasteland, to supermutants, to radscorpions...

...Openly promoting genocide...

'Murica.

If Fallout 4 is occurring concurrently with Fallout 3, then it's entirely possible. If it's set afterwards, then I'd think its highly unlikely the Enclave are around in strong enough numbers to even be a 'thing'.

The enclave are a warped out caricature of pre-war America. I doubt the PC would see them as anything similar to himself.

Enclave - fighting for the greater good

Super Mutants (Unity)- fighting for the greater good

Caesar's Legion - fighting for the greater good

NCR - fighting for the greater good

Mr House - fighting for the greater good

Followers of the Apocalypse - fighting for the greater good

They are all "good guys" if you ask me, but which one truly has vision? In my book it has to be the Master, he is the only one that ever really cared about humanity.

T'would be easy to replace [The Enclave] with [The United States of America]; and replace all the awful things you typed up with actual US events over the past, say, 40 or so years that are utterly reprehensible. And yet, the US, my country, still proclaims itself to be "the good guys." It's almost as if things are more complicated than binary good/evil... (just thinking out loud, really...)

Anyway, I'd support the inclusion of the Enclave as a faction assuming Bethesda retcons the hell out of Fallout 3's lackluster handling of the Enclave and the overall main plot... But that'll never happen.

The majority, yes. But as we saw in New Vegas, the individual members are human, they make mistakes.

Most of the enclave's personnel are just following orders. They're doing what they think is right based on what their leadership had told them; not unlike millions of people in the real world who have done horrible things without being horrible people. The majority of Germany under the Nazi Party, the majority of Russia under Stalin, United States soldiers in Vietnam. They're HUMAN, just like the rest of us. So let's be honest. In their shoes, where we've been raised in the Enclave's presence our whole lives and indoctrinated to believe that the wastes are full of slavering mutants and horrible abominations that need to be destroyed for humanity to reclaim it's former glory, we'd do the same thing they did. We'd don power armour and grab a plasma rifle, we'd take to the laboratories to find 'cures' for things we're told need curing. We'd do what countless millions have done throughout history, we'd live in the society we'd have been born in.

And just like many millions of people, many of us would eventually realize that what we were doing was wrong, and we'd recoil in horror. And that is what I want to see. I want to see veterans of the war with the Brotherhood, of Eden's FEV scheme. I want to see humans struggling to come to terms with the horrors they've committed in the name of a greater good that wasn't all that great and wasn't all that good.
