Some people finish the game more quickly than others...? It's been out for a week, it's hardly unusual that people will have finished it by now.

Some folks don't do much else but play video games for hours and hours and hours.

I am on my second run; but my first run I skipped all the side quests. The main quest is surprisingly short if you ignore all the optional stuff.

Could easily be done in a days average play if you went straight from start to finish.

I'm one of them, but I'm nowhere done and I'm nearly passed the 40 hour mark. I've got loads of quests still listed in my PIP and I don't wanna tackle some of them because I'm keeping certain factions neutral while I explore, some are just out of my way. Some I've left hanging because I picked them up on my way to others that were completed in other areas. I dunno how these people are apparently finishing "everything" in 40 hours. My guess is they're using game guides to find locations and complete quests rapidly.

Edit - In other words they're playing in a way that I will be soon (in second and third play-throughs), when I learn for myself where 'everything' is after spending many more hours actually finding everything for myself.

So really it boils down to play style...I was getting worried as when i played FO3 first time through it took me 70-80 hrs and that is discovering almost everything and doing all the side quests and main quests..

I didn't explore the game world fully the first time through, but I didn't rush. I can clock in 40 hours easily over a weekend. What's sleep?

First time I went through in a rush so I get the Hard Core Achievement. With food and water it just too tedious to explore.

2nd play through is the real play through, where I explore every nook and cranny. So far I have put in 15 hours or so and barely got to Boulder City.

I just started a new play through myself.

My first time through, I purposely didn't try to explore everything. More of just a test run to see what's what in new vegas.

I'm planning to take my second character through as much as the game as possible.

I'm wondering if its even possible to do everything in one play-through in forty hours. Can you really accept and complete every quest presented to you without having factions shut down to you, some quest givers becoming hostile, barring you from accepting and completing some of the quests in the game? I doubt it.

I got 48.5 hours in before I finished my first run. I did cut it very short.

I played 12 hours the day it came out, and 12 the next. Then I got 8 hours in that Thursday. More time over the weekend.

I normally get 4-8 hours a day played mon-fri and more on weekends.

Now that I got a idea of how the game plays Ill be taking my time this time around.

I built a good character, and have logged a little over 4 hours and not touched any quests.

No, its not because some quests lock out other quests. Each quest can have many endings, and there are 4 major endings.

Some quests require faction X likes you X amount and have done quest X, and that locks other quests.

WIsh i could get that much time in unfortunately i work ALOT lol. However its good to hear that after 50 hrs you still feel that you have alot left to do...also im aware that doing certain quests for certain factions would most likely bar quests with other factions giving you a reason to play through again (along with changing difficulty settings, hardcoe mode on or off and making a different character build.)

On that note since i posted this earlier and no one seemed to respond as it most likely got buried by the other new threads. I was wondering if anyone one could tell me a good stealth/sneak shot build with the Special stats, Key perks to obtain, And traits i should go with!

Thnx again

I thought so, it;s pretty obvious to me, which is why I have so many quests still hanging. And yet players are complaining about a forty jaunt in which they completed and found everything. False, precious, they're false!

I'm of the opinion that game guides should be released weeks after the game, not at the same time. Obviously a lot of complaints are coming from people who essentially are ruining their own experience by 'looking things up' thereby cutting the play-time down. Especially when it comes to finding and using certain weapons with certain mods, all located through the game guide, making combat easier for themselves and such.

if you just consider fast travelling from one point to the next, completing all the listed "quests" and then calling it quits ... without y'know, actually exploring new vegas ... let's just say you might not be getting your moneys worth ... this game is built to be absorbed, and lived in.

i got 107 hours logged over 2 characters so far and haven't beat the game yet hell there's still quests im doing that i didn't find on my first character, people are so use to 5hour games now they don't know how to enjoy the glory that is a fallout game.

I work 7 days a week, I can;t stop working. I just sleep less. I normally get 4-6 hours now and not 8 like i used to.
I did feel that there was a lot more i could have done. In fact I started again and have been to places that I didn't visit in my first time. I think had i explored more I could have easily pushed the 60 hour mark.

Mostly I railroaded my self into doing quests and only going to quest areas, I never even found all the quests.

I think to do one play blind (first time with game) and all possible side quests would easily be 60-80 hours.Add in at least a second play (if not a third and fourth) and you are looking at around 40-50 hours, then less as you know the game better abd better.
maybe across two plays would be fairly easy to see over 130 hours.

That is quit a bit TBQH, thats about $0.53 cents a hour if you looked at $ spent to time played. Hell of a bargain IMO.

honestly, I did use my CE guide at times to see what happens of I do A and not B or C. Many quests as I looked up had lots of endings and outcomes, different rewards too.

Some quests can be ended fast, but if you take the longer route then you end up getting more rewards.

There are ways to Fast Track the MQ, even without cheating. With cheating, you can really Fast Track it.

Me, I am in no hurry and I will not do everything in the first go through. So, I plan on taking 2 to 3 more times through before I do everything.
