Post » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:49 am

hey everyone i was wondering if its worth it to spend 14.99$ on 1000 MS points to get Fighter's Stronghold, Mehrunes' Razor, Orrery, Thieves Den, Vile Lair & Wizard's Tower? what do you think?

Yes, it all just adds more meat to the game. If you love the game then buy them. I've heard the mehrunes razor dlc is worth it alone.

Yes, that's a brilliant quest. :D
Definitely get the plugins, I reckon. It's well worth it. Have you bought Shivering Isles as well? If not, I recommend it. It's a great world to explore.

Thieves den and Wizards tower: definitely, they are both very useful. I've yet to get round to Mehrunes razor, and I don't have vile lair, so I can't comment on those two. Fighters stronghold is nice, the merchant it adds is very helpful, and the orrery is sorta meh, it's interesting, but I'm not entirely sure its worth it.

Mehrune's razor is a shortish adventure with the most content and is the best.
Frostcrag tower is one I get the most use out of with having non guild mage alters usable after buying some moderately expensive candles, but it gives you enchantment / spell making asap.
Thieves den has a quest and merchants, but is quite annoying getting around just to live in imo.
The rest even the vile den, just don't have that much to offer apart from some small bonuses you could just use potions to recive imo.

Note: I don't have battlehorn castle btw.

Mehrune's Razor is a good one. Frostcraig Spire is great, since to get access to Spell Making and Enchanting altars without needing access to the Arcane University. Vile Lair is good for vampire characters. Battlehorn Castle is good, but it creates problems when used alongside Frostcraig Spire. I like the Spell Tomes DLC as well.

I think it is worth the money, but not essential, I have all of them, and don't actually use them much.

Some of them are more worthwhile than others. Mehrune's Razor is essentially one huge dungeon crawl with nice loot. Wizard's tower is great as it lets you enchant stuff and make spells without getting all Mages' Guild recommendations. Fighters Stronghold is fun, and has a mini-quest IIRC. Thieves' Den is a nice weekly income. Never cared much for Vile Lair. Horse Armor doesn't do much, nor does Spell Tomes. It all depends on the character you play, I suppose. The orrery is fun if you like observatories. Knights of the nine is awesome!

I love spell tomes, I go to the weirdest most dangerous outside areas then rest an hour, to spawn that stalker conjurer and his book, its like hide and seek..

Speaking of H&S; having a 3 sec long ranged detect spell, combined with a long term demoralize spell you can also play a good mini game of tag with npc's.

@ericarthurblair I hope you enjoy the dlc's :)

Eh I dunno they add a few spells and save me some money but in the long run the septims saved from using a spell tome don't add up to much.

Lol no I don't do it for the spells, just to see how long it takes for him to spawn, sometimes its a rest outside of the first aylied ruin..
Other times days later you'll be walking along and he'll pop up out of nowhere like a mad spell casting homing pigeon.

I have the xbox 360 version, and I plan to get and install ALL the plugins... Even if I don't use them all in one given game.

I just want the maximum capable custom experience.

Let me assure you, the ones that add dwellings (with the exception of Knights of the Nine, which adds a lot more) for your player don't add to the experience, they detract from it.
"Oh, hey, a bunch of relatives of yours have passed away and left you a bunch of awesome homes."
Me: "Oh, cool. Well, my immersion is pretty much shot. Also, what ever happened to EARNING things in an RPG?"
I would, however, recommend Knights of the Nine and Spell Tomes.

Big question: Are all these add-ons available on Xbox 360? I'm actually thinking of getting an Xbox since they've come way down in price.

Yep. All of 'em.

Do you have a PC capable of running the game? If so, then the whole world of mods opens up before you. Why limit yourself to just 'official' content? :D

Ya I went from 360 to PC and I'm loving having mods. I have the GOTY Deluxe with all the official plugins but I've barely touched them, too much fun playing OOO.

OOO is way way better than any offical. So if you have the PC to run it, there is no reason to get the console version of Oblivion.
But to answer the question, yes they are on 360, and all except orrery are worth it IMO.
