Poems from the apocalypse

Who doesn't like a dose of radiation induced poetry every now and then.  So lets enrich the wastelands and enjoy the apocalypse.  Feel free to post any of your own apocalypse themed work as well as other interesting poems/short stories you've come across in your distant and weary travels.  I just ask that you please credit the author if the work is not your own.

Here's one of my recent poems to start this off:

A Hero's Death by Devin Chinault

Here I kneel before my fate, after a life lived in hate. My executioner just barely a man, his hands shake with fear. I feel no pain, no fear, no regret.  I know my time has come, nothing can change what I have done.

He chambers a round, so carefully prepared, so deliberately aimed.

My charges read aloud, the words echo through the cool damp air. The people around cheer.

I once stood among them, a voice so strong and clear. I fought valiantly in their name. They used to cheer when I remained.

Now the times have changed, now I must pay for what I have done.

I hear the order given, I watch the young mans finger near the trigger. I meet his distant gaze, I tell him its okay, for I must pay.

And then I was no more. Soon to be ash and dust once more.

Wow, that's some dark stuff. Very fitting for the irradiated wastes. Nicely done.
So, what, was he an NCR deserter or something?

Well, my story is in my signature. The story of Ulysses. I'm more of a prose person, not really much of a poet.
I might try my hand on one these days...

Heres a poem i wrote 2 and a half years ago when i was still in highschool. I'v edit it since then but this is the original.

Its special to me and i hope you guys appreciate it... this little story is the first thing i'v ever written out of school. I presented it to my classes and a few people clapped to it

The Black Bunker

Once upon of time the [censored] hit the fan and I had nowhere to go. I grabbed my wife, my daughter, my son and went to the only hope of salvation. My personal expensive underground bunker. It was fun at first, I cursed all my neighbors for not thinking of something as cleaver as an underground vault. My family hated at first, but when the earthquakes trumbled and the wind blew they hugged and kissed me. Eventually my neighbors found my vault.. They demanded I give them food or they’ll come in there and kill me. Scared at first I taunted them out of ignorant fear.. I yell at them through my cold steel doors!  “HAHA IM ALIVE AND YOUR NOT!” They yelled back but I didn’t listen, I was too busy dancing with my family. OH YEA WE SURE SHOWED THEM! The banging and yelling eventually turned into begging and pleading, some even cried and brought children…But still I refused, thats what you guys get! This continued until the noise stopped. Finally some peice and quiet. When our food ran out and it was time to rebuild civilization I went to open the door.. It was jammed at first.. But I manage to open it, and guess what I saw… a black brick wall, a dead man with a smile on his face. I read the words “You Deserve Worst” sprayed in red... I tried to break the wall but I couldn't I even got a slug hammer but nothing would do it… I cried and yelled. After 5 days I was resorted to drinking my urine. My son was the first to go, and so we ate him… we had to look at each other after, that was the worst… eventually mom died then my daughter, I drank her blood expecting it to replenish my thirst… I tried to kill myself but I didn’t have the strength

I know its ugly, i wrote it like this so it would be harder to accidentally peak through the ending. Hope you enjoy.
