Poetry Book Topic Suggestions

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 9:19 am

I have recently become obsessed with the art of haiku, so I decided to include a haiku book in the library section of my museum mod. I want the haikus to be about Elder Scrolls lore and topics, with a focus on topics relating specifically to the Morrowind game and possibly its expansions. What I want from the community is a list of topics, aspects, ideas, or things from the game that you want to see me write haikus about, and I'll try to do as many as I can. Thanks! Or, in other words:

Morrowind topics
Are requested for my book
Please send suggestions.

The book will be found
As part of my museum
In the library.

Haikus are so fun
To write and also to read
In an in-game book!

Book preview:

That Caius Cosades
Always gives people missions.
Must find puzzle box.

Those darn cliff racers
Chase almost all the people
Across Vvardenfell.

Vivec, that big city
Where Jobasha sells his books
To Ordinators.

Telvanni towers
Full of magic surprises
Go see Divayth Fyr.

Corprus is real bad
Damages flesh, brings madness,
And there is no cure.

Those Daedric temples
Full of monsters and cultists
Sometimes have good loot.

More later! Let me know what you want to read about!

Aren't the majority of these a bit too Nerevarine-specific? If they're going to be included in a poetry book of some sort, and if this book is supposed to be put in some sort of museum, they probably shouldn't be written from the viewpoint of the player character.

As for suggestions for topics; since this is Morrowind, I'd say ALMSIVI is a good target for haiku-writing. Vivec in particular, since poetry is kind of his thing. If you write them as, say, a praise to Vivec from the viewpoint of a Buoyant Armiger, I think you'd be able to put them into the game without breaking immersion or anything. I'd try writing an example, but I'm more of a fornyreislag person myself.

I've taken out all the first-person POV's from the haiku examples, and like I said this is only a very small portion of the book. There will be lots more!
