Point of Immersion I thought of

Post » Wed Sep 21, 2011 6:52 pm

I do hope the arrows on NPCs and compass are optional. I miss that sense of forced exploration in Morrowind. I think one thing that will probably help a lot is the rough and mountainous terrain that one has to cross to explore. In Morrowind, for me at least, you had to completely avoid red mountain throughout the beginnings of the game. I either fast traveled by boats or silt striders or just ran around red mountain. It really made the island feel incredibly stretched out. Thoughts?

Nope, you can turn off all markers and even have multiple quest targets if you want.

DAMN! I clicked on that link hoping it was some form of confirmation.
Well played...

So both compass and NPC arrows can be toggled seperately? Or all in one?

Yes, separately if you want. It's confirmed on Pete's twitter. You can have the compass on, but any and all arrows turned off.

ah thats great, so I can have just a blank compass? If so thats good, since even though I want to explore, its a bit hard when they say "northwest" and I dont know where skyrim north is xD

Here's what I've gathered:

All things HUD have an Opacity level that can raise or lower the level in which you see the HUD.

The NPC arrows and symbols on the compass can be turned off.

So I'm assuming they're separate entities.

This really helps with making the game more alive, not if we could turn off fast travel as well...

It's turned off by default because you never have to use it. There's also the carriage system.
