Point Lookout: The Velvet Curtain quest; Am I stuck?(Spoiler

Post » Thu Dec 01, 2011 7:11 am

I've opened and recovered the message from the locker, but the bank's voice activated machine gives me the same response that it did when I tried the first holotape, that the password was correct, but the voice is unrecognized. Is this glitched, or do I need to keep looking for some other way to get into the safe-deposit box?

The holotape will only work once. If you have played it, and the terminal replied "access granted", it has unlocked the safety deposit box already. If you try to replay the tape to get the terminal to repeat "access granted", it will tell you unauthorized voice.

It must be glitched then, 'cause the safe is still locked, and the terminal hasn't given an access granted, although it did show both holotapes encoded. first one was, "right password, voice unrecognized". Playing the locker holotape, of the Chinese agent's voice and password, also was rendered as "right password, voice unrecognized". That is where I think the glitch is.

I chucked that run through, since I was doing it before the mansion, and started from the boat landing again. I see there is a console remedy, should I not be able to complete this, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't just missing a clue or sumpin'. Thanks for taking the time to help.

I also looked at the walkthrough, being careful not to read too far, and it seems I might have missed a couple of starting triggers for this quest. That's what most of the glitches I've run into have been traced to. I dunno.

There is a glitch, more like a hiccup in my experience. I just keep playing the tape and accessing the machine over and over til it works. Takes about four times.

How frustrating. :/ I managed to play through PL and O:A glitch-free, but my game froze at (what I think is) the end of MZ and I got so mad :P

Thanks for that one. I did try twice and stopped, so if I get this again, I'll remember to try it a few more times.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of very frustrated gamers who had your experience there. I was very thankful when it finished successfully for me, as I seem to be a glitch magnet, due to my inane lack of continuity. hehehe. I should be more organized, and follow through more quests, rather than trying to be efficient by doing parts of multiple quests that are near each other.
