Point of No Return?

Post » Tue Mar 16, 2010 5:36 pm

I don't want to spoil my game :) What I know so far is that the same as
Spoiler
Fallout 3 had originally been, New Vegas has an ending - and I don't want the game to quit abruptly on me

I'm not even sure whether it forms part of the MQ, but I'm at the point where I had
Spoiler
Benny
tied up in the
Spoiler
Legion's Fort
and I had the option to explore the
Spoiler
Bunker beneath the Fort
.

At that point I was afraid of advancing too much into the MQ (if this was really the MQ??), so I went away and started exploring the rest of the map.

I know I could just search the wiki for this info but I really don't want to know too much.

Can someone just tell me the name of the quest which I should not start in order not to end the game?

This way, I'll be seeing this name of this quest on my pipboy and I will just avoid continuing the quest line in order to enjoy the game as much as possible :) :celebration:

Thanks a lot!

Which path are you following, NCR, Legion, Yes Man, or House?

Game gives you a popup that states that you should go and do any quests and things you want to do before moving on with the main quest because you have reached the point of no return.

@ FalloutFTW - I'm on good terms with both NCR and Legion, still can't decide between House/Yesman/Legion...

Thanks Ronin20 and ICRDI Templar.

I don't think I've started any dam-related quests. Well since you say the game itself gives a warning then I'm 'safe' :D

There's kind of two Point of No Returns, depending on what you want to do. I would suggest (if you haven't progressed already), you keep a save after you finish helping the Boomers (I won't spoil that for you) but BEFORE you tell anyone the Boomers are siding with you. You can go into the fort, you can do whatever you want down there (though if you blow up the basemant, you'll cut yourself off of House, the safest thing to do is to upgrade the chip, Caeser doesn't know any better so he thinks you did his bidding and House will be happy, leaving all of those options for you still).

That's what I consider the "Point of No Return" if you want to have a save point at the time you want to choose a side. There's no warning for this.

The final "Point of No Return", there's a warning, but it's long after you've chosen a side, so a few less quests might be open to you (for example, if you pissed off the NCR by helping someone else, you probably won't be able to do any of their quests).

ADoseofBuckley: Thanks for the info!
I've done it all with the Boomers so far, they 'idolize' me :) but I haven't yet told anyone that they side with me.

I don't remember getting an option to 'upgrade' the chip though, I just get the chip removed when I leave the fort and that's it so far

Ah, you'll do that when you go down into that bunker part of the Fort.

I would say the very first Point of No Return is confronting Benny at the Tops. It's after you leave the Tops that Caesar gives one forgiveness for anything you've done against his interests. I haven't done it, but I assume (yeah, yeah - when you assume, you make an ass of u and me) that even if you've killed Legion guys, you'll be clear. After all, the MQ goes through Caesar's camp beyond that point.

The point of no return is just before the big battle at Hoover Dam. There should be a big screen that pops up and asks you if you want to continue and do the quest. Where your at in the main quest it should take you a long while before hitting that point.
