3 point shields...and other shields question

Post » Thu Feb 27, 2014 1:34 pm

I have a questions concerning skills that give shields. I was reading a skill for example Empowered Ward, which gives a 3 point damage shield to yourself and summoned creatures. "3 point" shield is that like 3 damage, or is a "point" considered a hit, so it can absorb 3 hits regardless of the damage?

I don't have an answer for you, except to say that skill calculators like the one on ESOHEAD don't necessarily provide accurate skill tooltips in terms of damage numbers, healing amounts, shield strengths, or magicka/stamina/ultimate costs. Some abilities are accurate, but others are out to lunch.

That 3 points is the base of the spell without any player skill added bonuses.

The actual shield point will scale much higher (even at lower levels) once you take the skill.

Basically the shield value you see on the skill calcs is not at all what you will actually see in game. Once your magicka bonuses and stuff are applied, you'll get the real value.
