point?

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 5:26 pm

Ok so far I am enjoying the game but I still have no idea what the actual point/goal of the game really is, other than sending out people into the wastes collecting various stuff.

I mean, the raiders and roaches don't seem to get any stronger so I don't really get why I need better weapons and I can raise all of my s.p.e.c.i.a.l. attributes to the max level so why do I need better gear? Lastly, why bother with acquiring vault dwellers as I can resurrect them after they died, anyway?

Like I said, I am enjoying this for as far as it goes but I'm afraid I will lose interest fast this way. Anyone got the answer to these questions?

I think the enemies get stronger as you go on.

I'm on day 3 on 2 different vaults and the raiders' weapons have been improving it seems. Like starting out with 3 raiders with melee weapons to start, and then in the last raiding party, all 3 had firearms.

As for rad roaches, I just had a rad roach infestation that killed or injured over a dozen vault dwellers before I got it under control, and all my dwellers were armed with shotguns or better and were wearing at least some type of armor. The initial rad roaches could be killed with just fists by dwellers wearing only vault suits.

There is no destination. Only the journey of the ride.

That's poetically cliché.

Ok, it wouldn't be fair if I gave some pointers of my own. Would be cool if you could attack other players' vaults... ;)

Radroaches that get harder to kill as my own weapons progress doesn't really compute with me. I was hoping on defending my very own Vault 13 from enclave troopers or super mutants, at least.

As with most games of this kind, the ultimate goal is a big population with a prospering ecomomy that is stable and protecting it from attacks and disasters.

Combine this with collecting rare items and you have... a game. ;)

I'm pretty sure I can defend my Vault with 200 unarmed dwellers agains 3 raiders armed with pistols.

Honestly, after a certain point, I think the goal is just trying to capture all the legendary cards.

It's a sim game and the point of sim games is to make your own fun. Maybe you're a collector and you want to get all the weapons, outfits, and dwellers. Maybe you want to see how fast you can hit 200 dwellers. Maybe you like setting up your own eugenics experiments or pretending that Betty Dweller had a meltdown after discovering her husband dancing with that new girl who answered the radio call.

I have a very limited imagination. That's why I play videogames.

What is the point of the game?

It occurred to me in an epiphany as I was playing.

Fallout Shelter is a virtual ant farm with Fallout dressing.

Think about it. :geek:

Same for me but I'll admit, Fallout Shelter is quite addicting.

I'd love if they added a bit more depht to the game. Simple turn based battles with raiders and such instead of a bunch of people running around like confused chickens until the other group is dead would be great. And maybe you could, just as an option to your explorer running on autopilot, also be involved in the battles out in the wasteland.

And definitely raiding other peoples' vaults, like mentioned above, but without a big negative impact on the person that go raided.

I have the same problem with Minecraft. Without guidance my brain tends to go a bit "deer in headlights".

Yeah I know what you mean. It just struck me today after playing for like 5 days non stop. By now I'm just realising this game has much more potential. I for one would love to raid other peoples vaults just for the heck of it, or what about a FEV chamber? I just KNOW you are waiting to give those worthless dwellers a free dip in the vats :)

But I'm guessing too that this is just it, nothing more nothing less... This game makes me want to play fallout again... But my ps3 bugged out on me :,(
