Polearms?

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:20 am

I was wondering if anyone could confirm or disprove that there will be polearms in Skyrim. Somebody said on a website that in the Game Informer 20 page exclusive on Skyrim, Todd Howard said that there WILL be polearms in the game. Is this true?...

What, like Halberds and such? I heard there would be a while back too, but nothing recently.

I know there won't be spears. I also heard that there will be polearms. I don't know if it's true though. Probably just a rumor.

Todd Howard have at several occasions stated that spears nor halberds will be in the game. So I can assure you. They will definitely not be in the game.

There is a youtube video review with Todd from the game informer crew, 56 minutes. First thing asked about is spears/polearms. He said no dice.

Yes I think I remember it too and I even saw a picture in the official gallery of a draugr holding something looking like a halberd, but it may have just been a very long two handed axe. Or maybe polearms just are two handed axes with different names and models. Still no spears though.

Oh I found it: http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/DraugrSwarm.jpg
And actually nope it doesn't look very halberdy so I guess I remembered wrong. Just two handed axes but at least the animation is right so making polearm mods shouldn't be a lot of trouble.

I thought they were pretty mediocre in Morrowind, but that game's old as it is. I'm sure that if they had the desire to make them worthwhile, they could. Hasn't happened though *shrug* Nothing to be done about it except to keep expressing a desire to see them implemented (without sounding whiny or impolite)

Yeah, that's a battleaxe. More mportantly though, is Dragonborn doing a one-handed block in there?

Two handed block...

Well yeah, he's using two hands, but that looks like the longsword from the demo videos to me. As in, it's a one-handed weapon.
