They show the executioner's axe, several pole-arms and some newer, much longer staves then previously seen. At this point Spears are a given. Todd himself knows how much you cats salivate over the idea, he is just being cheeky by not revealing them now.

The question is, what skill will it be? In one of the earlier GI articles, they mentioned that daggers were a one-handed skill. I think this means that Blade and Blunt are being dropped for One-handed and Two-handed.

Well, that's where the Perks come in. You pick One-Handed and then choose a Mace or sword pick to customize your skill.

So spears, pole arms and any other large staff would, naturally, be a Two-Handed skill and then you pick the Halbred or Spear or Claymore Perk to dictate WHAT two-handed weapon you prefer.

This seems most likely :)

Perks! I hadn't thought about how those would be integrated. Yes, that sounds very logical. With those, it'll be like having the skill variety from Morrowind back, except...not really...

Good nonetheless. Thanks for pointing that out.

You ever go to bethblog??? That is the first place I always go to.

HUB: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/esv.aspx Although for some reason I don't see the new update on it.

@ Proditus, I hope for 2-handed spears so I can play a 'Dragoon' character like I did in Morrowind. In Morrowind I had like 150 acrobatics and I would jump off mountains and land on people with my spear pretending to be using a Jump attack....good times....

Nice to see more diversity in weapons this time around. Can't wait to see more concept art of armor and weapons in general.

Guys, there is no safe indication yet. There are three instances of polearms people refer to. One of which could as well be a sword (the pic with the dragon), one of which is greyed out as if an abandoned idea or just there for decoration (the elven armor pic with the glaive-like weapon), and one of which is the long axe that might just be an unique weapon using 2h animations, only for that executor.

I like the artwork on the table 2:40 into the video showing different positions of someone holding a staff, hopefully this means I can bash people with my staff again like in Morrowind

While it's not an offical confirmation, it's not so bad as you say either. First foremost, understand that the greyed out image is Armor focused. Greying out the weapon but keeping the posture of holding it is a very common concept art technique and you'll see it in many films and games. Armor and Weapon art is seperate but as I say, weapon posture tends to have an effect on armor design. It, traditionally, has nothing to do with removing the object from the game.

So. The Halbred is likely real and likely works. As does the Executioner's axe, even if that particular one IS unique to him. It's still run by Havok Behavior which means all of it's animations have been prototyped and can be synthizised at will. Then you have several full sized staves on top of the previously seen shorter versions. So those two handed animations have been blended as well. If you watch a bit of how Havok Behavior works, you'll be considerably more optimistic about the potential even these few images showcase.

I'm not saying they can't possibly be in, but to me, signs point to no. After all, this is only concept art. The weapon in question - the only one that clearly is a polearm and not unique to one character who might only appear in a cut scene - could just as well not exist at all and just be there to give the character an interesting pose, no matter whether or not this pose will ever be in game, let alone the weapon.

I hope, wish, beg that there'll be polearms, but I'm rather pessimistic than disappointed.

What's your definition of a pole arm? Is it a long handled axe? A halberd? A spear?

I know we'll have the first, probably have the second, still no idea on the third.

After the response given for them not being included in Oblivion it would be a surprise if spears weren't included.

PLEASE, use the direct link for your images. I don't like having to deal with the ads and clicking the image again just to see it full-size. Its very easy to find once you've uploaded the file, just look for where it says "Direct Link."

Alright. We shouldn't be having this debate across two threads but I'll bite. What signs point to no pole-arms?

Because, to me, seeing actual pole-arms is a pretty good sign there will be pole-arms. Had I not seen any pole-arms, I'd likely being saying something about how if there were any pole-arms in the game, we'd of seen 'em by now. Which we have.

If I were the concept artist, why would I want to sell an illustration to my supervisor featuring a weapon that wouldn't exist? The concept is what it is an idea. Why would I try to communicate the wrong idea?

This. There is more evidence of there being pole-arms than there not. Of course there may not be any in the game, (I think Oblivion had concept art with spears) but there are no signs pointing to no pole-arms.

On a side note, I hope there is an option to have spears one handed with a shield, and to be able to throw them and pick them up again.
