A poll about BOS

Raiders are surprisingly humanized in the Commonwealth.

I am a little disappointed in myself that I didn't notice the clear similarity between 'Ad Victorium' (To Victory) and 'Sieg Heil' (Hail Victory). The difference in the two phrases is just hair splitting.

Of course it doesn't make the BOS into Nazis, most militaristic organizations have some jingoistic motto like that.

I still think Elder Maxson is more like Alexander the Great, what with his youthful rise to power and rapid imperial expansion. I also think that he and his empire will share a similar fate with Alexander, even if a BOS victory becomes the canon ending. I just don't see Elder Maxson passing of old age.

I don't think the Brotherhood of Steel is a bunch of Nazis or even the Enclave unless we mean Colonel Autumn's incarnation of the organization. I think the Nazi themes are deliberate, there, but Elder Maxson isn't there yet and no matter how you slice it, genocide against species which are predominately monsters is objectively different than innocent people.

Instead, I think Elder Maxson is a young conqueror who has the potential to unleash something terrible but isn't quite there yet.

He's more Warhammer than Reichstag.

But the potential is there to be unsettling.

Why it's gray rather than black.

Perhaps a DLC will allow the SS to either pull him back from the brink or give him a helpful shove.

For all this nazi talk, every time I see SS I wince a little.

They don't even call him that in the game!

They call him/her the Vault Dweller!

I haven't really read through the comments, but just looking at the poll, the choices are biased. There's no "none of the above" option or an option that isn't as extreme as "Xenophobia Bigots with delusion of grandeur aka Encalve".

I want a civil war with BOS and the Vault Dweller decide the future of BOS, either returning more (not all) to Lyons, status quo, more to western BOS, or more to Warhammer 40k (that some people want).

I am sorry for the confusion. This is my first poll I have ever created.

Makes Changes is the closest option you want.

Read Red's Terminal

Or the Terminal at the Shamrock Brewery

Or stop and listen to their conversations

Libertalia is the best of them, IMHO.

The Raiders have PERSONALITIES NOW!

While we are on terminals, I just LOVE how they often write about deaths of their fellow raiders (and how raiders themselves talk about a guy who is single-handedly slaughtering Raider groups).

And yes, these Raiders are much more humane than the downright crazy Pitt Raiders (which is what majority of them were) from FO3.

I always thought we were supposed to think the Capital Wasteland raiders were the descendants of the Vaults.

You know, the ones which make crazy people.

dunno, but even before The Pitt DLC was released it was revealed that the Raiders have connection with a place called The Pitt. Also, it was confirmed that all (or almost all) slaves the Raiders captured were transfered to Pittisburgh. So even if they aren't all just one big decentralized gang, they all seem related to The Pitt one way or another.

Because synths should die for existing and are capable of displaying emotions, remorse and pity yet a town infested with mafia type ghouls is ok? One would think it would be the other way around. O.o

In any event, Hitler was indeed racist (jews). So yes, he is in some ways "like Hitler". (Synths)

There's also the sheer crazy irony that the ONLY Synth Maxson has ever met turns out to be his best and only friend.

You know who else can display all of these emotions?

Yeah, but they actually do feel emotions.

It's not really remotely in question in game.

Would have been a neat twist if, when you kill Maxson, he drops a component.

As evidenced by Curie, if you get her a synth body. She's overwhelmed by things she 'feels.' And when you romance her, she just blurts out, 'I love you!'
So, if that's in question... it shouldn't be.
Also Gen 3 synths are literally synthetic humans. They are NOT robots. They're really closer to clones.
They are birthed in a lab. By a robotic womb. With human (Shaun) DNA.

y u think they call him father?

Honestly, near as I can tell, think Miranda from Mass Effect 2/3.

Edit: I believe they also age, considering Synth!Shaun.

He knows his emotions are fake but still feels them. Hence why he's so pissed off at the end of his questline since he's STILL feeling anger, guilt, and remorse over his fiance's death.

w o w

So what makes you qualified to make that assertion, while simultaneously making Maxson disqualified to make his?

Did I disqualify anything?

Nick is a machine. Gen 3 synths are not. They're actually organic, synthetic humans.

Still unnatural abominations, but humans. There is a massive difference between Gen 2s and 3s. Marginally larger than the difference between 1s and 2s.

As I said, they are literally human. Read my other post.
