Poll : Are you glad that you bought Brink ?

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:50 am

even if this game wasnt hyped for two year, and i had enver heard about it, i would still have been disappointed, probably even if the game was finisihed. This I wont know for a while but in the current state, id rather have my money.

That is how all my friends feel too. They have money issues right now and I'm currently okay with money so when I bought it, they wanted to play it too because it was hyped so much and ended up buying what they believe to be garbage. They thought the concepts were cool and they enjoyed the campaign in co-op but after it was over they were like, "now what?" I said lets play MP! They played two matches and were like, "we just did all of this in campaign... Want to play Halo?" And so my night was... over with Brink and they want to sell their game and buy LA Noire. I'm keeping Brink and picking up LA Noire on Tuesday.

Displeased with the game due to the lack of content. I bought the 360 version. <-- Maybe that's where I went wrong. Maybe I would have had a better experience on the PC.

Brink's probably the most disappointing game I've ever bought, but I don't regret it.

SD had the potentially to make an exceptional game here but ultimately failed in only looking at the problem from the perspective of the multiplayer gamer. Invasion (to use the Halo Reach term) is limited, and more so it's a game of stalemates which doesn't play well with any sort of attitude towards smooth movement and fast gameplay. And having single main objectives and a heavy emphasis on team based gameplay didn't help either, since they both contribute to the stalemating as well.

But those are issues with gameplay. I might not like it, but I play games for more than just twiddling my thumbs in response to flashing lights. And more for just campaigns too. A game is, ulitimately, a work of art and fiction (as set by setting) and in both respects Brink is absolutely brilliant. It may be hard to appreciate the story from just what little we get in the shoe-horned cut-scenes, but do take a listen to the audio logs. They make the game so, so much deeper than the superficial respawning we're subjected to.

And at the end of the day, for what little it does well I'm going to remember Brink far longer than I will COD or Battlefield, games with better graphics and perhaps even better gameplay but neither with any sort of emotional connection to be had. They are dead, though proficient, yet Brink despite it's deficiencies is alive.

The single player is god awful, the missions are unforgettable. The challenge list is way too short, and the maps are very lacking. Definitely not worth 50 dollars. More like $10-$20.

I think a lot people forget that the single player is the same as the co op and multiplayer its said by the devs many times before

I love this game. There are so many different playstyles to toy around with and all of them are extremely usefull if you know how to use them. Wether I'm the heavy with a mini-gun or the light operative with silenced weapons I'm havin a blast with Brink. This game rocks!

for the first 2 days i was happy i got it for xbox and now i'm a bit dissapointed.

i'm sick of companies rushing games because fans want it early.

Now we have a perfectly good game gone to waste because of fans.

at first i thought this was the best game i had ever played.

But now i dont see a purpose for exp once you hit rank 5.

Clothes should be unlocked at their levels then bought with exp.

perk upgrades should also be bought with exp (example medic's adrenaline, rank 2: adrenaline has a slightly longer effect and only 75% damage is recieved when the effect wears off).

or even

operative's firewall command post, rank 2: takes less time to add a firewall to a command post, takes slightly longer to remove a firewall.

or something [censored] like

Cortex bomb, rank 2: Explosion is slightly more effective and has more radius.

and so people aren't unstoppable, they can only get an extra upgrade slot every time they get a higher rank.

if you don't understand the exp ideas then don't comment about it.

the main reason why i replied to this was to point out how gameplay changed for me over time.

I'm loving my PC copy. Finally stabilized my computer after the AMD graphics crisis, AND my brother bought a copy, so we're a two man army.

if you don't like it, get out. This is the BRINK forum. We talk about BRINK here.

Also, you can't snuggle fallout if you're also complaining about crappy games. Fallout New Vegas svcked for the first two weeks while they were patching it.

@Destroy666: Wait a week. By then, patches will be applied, zealots and trolls will have settled down, and you'll be given a fair chance to review BRINK for what it's supposed to be.

Is the game THAT bad?
'Cause I see a lot of people that keep bashing and [censored]ting on the game.
And if you want to reply seriously, please bring up facts about what you experienced, not critics opinions.

If you don't like BRINK, go ahead and get your money back and leave. No one's going to stop you, and no one's going to argue.

Just don't ruin it for everyone else is all I'm saying. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's the worst game ever or that anyone who plays it should be helldamned. I get that you're attacking BRINK, but that doesn't justify attacking everyone who likes BRINK.

Brink has been a Godsend for me with the PSN down. I see Xbox users have been having a number of issues and I hope the developers fix those problems for them as soon as possible.

So far, Brink has been an addicting experience for me on single player and I expect my desire to play it will be even greater once the PSN is back up and I'm facing live players. For now, I'll use this down time to develop a specialized character for each class (including one all around character). Working on five different character builds will also serve to help me learn all the maps thoroughly since I'll be repeating missions over and over again.

Do you know whats sad? This Poll, I mean really you ask that question in the games own forum!? Its like asking somebody if they like their job while they are standing next to their manager. I will bet they will say yes 98 out of 100 times.

Yes... Sort of, it's definetly not worth the $60 I paid for it though. 8 maps which lag when used online being priced as a full game.

Oh lawdy...
