obviously you already have some basic concept of characters build(probably its was the first thing you worked on).
any chance you are ready to share with us, if the special system left intact and maybe some tips regarding the changes to the skill list?

p.s. its unfair to play with our feeling this way *looking at chocolate mushrooms anxiously* only for that you almost got the Die, designer(or community manger), die!' vote from me!

I rather like the idea so long as you mean it as a random extra. Like your heart when you realize you're dying... but you're trying.

I like numbers. I like raw stat data, and generating a character that creates the correct numbers in the correct places. With unseen extras, the potential for number skewing possibilities exists. I would rather keep known quantities, than have the possibility of benefits or consequences.

Can you imagine if we all have to take the G.O.A.T.? What would you do if you got the skills you needed and found out after investing time into building it that it had a negative effect? Like the hidden bonus was anyone with experience cutting hair would be attacked on sight by a cult of Sasquatch worshipers. Things would get particularly difficult for Butch should he need to do a quest given by someone hostile to him for no reason other than his choice of character creation.

Finding out later certain items/quests/content would be unobtainable due to ignorance at creating the character would be a huge concern for me. That's why I'd prefer to know what the extras I'm getting into are afterwards. To give me the opportunity to change my mind before investing hours of my time into something that might be fundamentally disappointing.

I'm no rookie when it comes to scrapping a huge time investment for the sake of fixing a couple missed skill goals. I just started my 9th F3 playthrough recently. My 6th was 78 hours in when I had to wipe it and start over due to some errored math on my part for end skill totals.

Clear, clinical character creation is key to ensuring your experience is exactly what you expect it to be. I don't mind flaw/perk balance at all - I just need to know it's there.

I don't think that this secret would be something the devs would design to break, limit players options, or otherwise handicap the player... probably more along the lines of something "fun" in the game to add to the flavor of the world...

Or the devs could just be laughing their asses off as they give every player a secret "scent" gland that attracts death claws from miles around...

Just as plausible. MMO's... MMO's never change...

Since we have to speculate at the extras, I am somewhat cynical as to their being a benefit only. For instance, if you were creating a character designed to be a sniper and you got the secret extra that you are near sighted and pistol accuracy increases, but long range vision is blurry it would detract from you actually being able to use that character for its intended purpose. Now think about how long you will have spent using your character before you actually even get a long gun in the first place. A not insignificant time investment nullified because you chose/rolled nearsightedness would seriously hamper long term enjoyment.

I voted if they were small i dont like the idea of having strong unknown factors. I usually am a min maxer when it comes to making toons and i want to know that when i make something its going to be effective they way i make it.

Content being denied certain characters does not promote good feelings. There are ways to limit the usefulness of a certain quest and even ways to make quests inaccesible to some players - but having that criteria be that some random/not so random thing that happens behind the scenes at creation put too much out of control of the player, and would foster resentment.

Do i like or dislike secret bonus and strength of it depends a lot on bonuses themselves and character management. I voted for minor bonuses and would like to add that these bonuses should be more "roleplaying" ones. And by saying "bonus" i hope you mean not just "secret" and "surprise" but also "no influence on math" :) Something that makes person more individual but does not affect SPECIAL game play at all. Something i would call not "perk" but "quirk".
For example some appearance changing like scar in some place or some minor jewelry like ring, wristband or necklace (and hundreds of other trifles character may obtain and like or be unable to rid off).
Another sort of quirks may be minor character behavior while idling or smt, but doesnt affecting game play, only visuals. Examples would be head (or some other place) scratching, constant haircut fixing by shaking/smoothing head... While walking may be stone kicking, while idling silent knocking... Even some minor bad behavior like spitting or nail biting :)
I hope you got idea what i`m talking about and i would love to get a character with ring in beard :D
Make n jewelry and m places for it and it would be n*m different characters even in same clothes.

I chose option 1. It would be pheonominal to have hidden bonues or even flaws. Would add depth to the game and character creation others shy away from. Devs tend to stay away from randomization in character creation. Maybe even give one positive trait and one flaw. >:+D

I know someone who is working on a Sci Fi, Space Game and almost all of the character creation will be randomized. I think you can choose basic elements. I will not say more specifics as it would be revealing too much of this game.

In T4C, before they changed it, you would answer a series of questions that would determine your stats.

I was so close to choosing the next to the last option, but we need all the Devs we can at the moment. >:+P

I like the idea of hidden content based on some random bonus/es during char generation, and/or (better "and") based on current stats or reputation of unique combination/sequence of passed quests and bonuses.
Also there would be nice to have hidden places that are accessible only in certain time (real time, for example on march 23, or on every 8th day of a month), and hidden places that are discoverable through a unique combination of bonuses, and be seen by others only if the one who have discovered them enters the place while being observed (maybe associate it with perception for some places). (This looks like too much work for designers/developers, but it looks good)

Imho, hidden bonuses should not create a disadvantage if compared to the "normal" player (if there will be those), instead it should add some extra. And maybe this extra in some cases will be accessible to others too, based on some combination of stats/quests/e.t.c, after some time of play-life.
