POLL: Fallout 4 PC Crash

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 11:33 pm

The Poll attached to this thread is to gauge the percentage of people and how they are fairing with their version of Fallout 4 with respect to crashes on their system.

This, of course, is not a help thread. Use the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/316-fallout-4-hardware-software-issues/ section for help.

Have you been experiencing crashes running Fallout 4? If so, please tick the yes option in the poll.

If you haven't experienced any crashes running Fallout 4, please tick the no option in the poll.

Hopefully this poll will give a rough idea of the numbers of users who are experiencing issues with their system.

I had 2 crashes in 250 hours, almost not worth mentioning.

300+ hours, never crashed once  I'd say it's the most stable Beth game to date.

One crash, had to vote no crashes since I'm not even sure it was down to the game.

My computer has crashed once or twice during game play for reasons unknown to me, but I've now got hundreds of hours playing so I'm not unduly bothered by it. What is really more of a nuisance is, if I pause the game and am away for more than about two minutes, my graphics are scrambled and I have to exit and restart the game. I've no idea why this happens with FO4 either. It doesn't happen with Skyrim or any other game I play...

System crash I wouldn't call it tho. I have had the game exit cleanly to desktop twice on me, while in the loading screen (I have a sneaky suspicion, that it is due to followers occupying your space on arrival at new location)

As others have said, it's been remarkably stable compared to earlier games, only 1-2 crashes in 140+ hours. Which makes me feel that "Has it crashed, Yes/No?" is kind of an iffy poll, since it changes "wow, it's been great, so few crashes!" into "Boo, the game crashed. It's bad.")

Honestly, in 100 hours of play, I'd expect a crash from any game I play this decade.

edit: and yeah, these were just CTD's. Unlike the hard-lock freeze, have to hit the restart button to fix, that I've gotten from some games.

I get about one crash during every four hours of play, give or take. Sometimes the game crashes to the desktop, sometimes it just locks up, and sometimes the crash locks up the computer and I have to restart (press reset button).

My system:

ASRock Z170-ITX/ac motherboard with latest drivers

16 GB 2133 DDR4 RAM by Micron, 1.2V

Intel Corei7-6700 4.0 GHz, not overclocked

Windows 10, 64-bit

Sapphire Radion R9-380, not overclocked (latest drivers)

Silverstone 450 watt power supply, 80+ Gold

I have no idea what causes the crashes.

I've had 3 lock ups in over 260 hours of gameplay. All 3 have been whilst I have been riding gunner on a vertibird.

I count that as outstanding stability considering the open world nature of the game and the many variations of specification of PC out there.

My computer is total crap and I have to use mods to turn down and disable graphical options so the game will run at a reasonable framerate... but it hasn't crashed once in the 50 hours I've played, and my sessions are usually 3+ hours each.

Terrible poll.

100% of users should report a crash according to your choices for results.

I've had 5 crashes in 500 hours of play.

Not one of those crashes is related to the game....They were all caused by Nvidia Graphics Driver failures, how many of your end-user base will actually be able to determine if the game was in fact the cause?

I'm playing on the Ps4 & at first the game was showing good stability, but lately the crashes have become more frequent. Not really unexpected.

Same. If OP had included an option to vote 'crashes very rarely, don't consider it an issue', then I would have voted. The structure of this poll gives the impression that you are either have ongoing crash problems, or your PC has never crashed. Not a good poll.

4 or 5 crashes. Mostly when in building mode or inside the inventory. Not really tiresome so far.

+ 1

Yes the game did crashed from time to time. But compared to Fallout 3, where i had 2 or 3 crashes every hour, it's not worth to mention

No crashes so far, surprisingly. This one seems far more stable than previous Fallouts (and Skyrim).

I don't meet recommended requirements, only minimum (game set me for medium settings but I upped the draw distances), and my card, apparently, is below, but I've had no problems. Well, nothing major. The odd graphic distortion but, I can usually play all day with no issues. Current session is about 10 hours and still going fine :)

No crashes at all here. I have limited time to play though. Only got about 50 hours or so and longest session without a break has been 3 hours.

I occasionally have the game minimize to task bar within a couple of minutes of it starting but it is a simple matter to click the icon to get it running again. In 100 hours I have had no hard crashes at all. :)

I'm level 26, 267 game hours, not one crash or lockup. I've encounter settlement glitches and lighting glitches and other minor little glitches/bugs. But this is by far the most stable Bethesda game at release ever. Anyone remember Daggerfall when it came out? Bethesda has come a long way.

The auto-minimize thing appears to be caused by a number of 3rd party programs running in the background. As far as I can recall this has affected Beth games since the days of Oblivion. On my end it was Teamviewer, on yours who knows..

I crashed 4 or 5 times early on. Windows complained (paraphrasing) "Fallout 4 does not have enough memory..." with 2 of the crashes. (With 8GB) The rest had no message. So I increased my page file, and the crashes stopped. (Was 1024/1024. Changed to 2048/2048. I prefer a fixed PF vs system managed.)

I voted No, but have had two CTD's. Both were caused by Steam pushing an update so I don't count them against the game.

bit of a black and white poll here, tbh.

I've had ONE crash in 250+ hrs, and that was in the first few days. Never had one since.

Guess that's a "yes" ...
