What's the earliest gamesas RPG you've played?

A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

Probably it was Stonekeep, due to fact, it was released in CD-Action magazine. Soon after that - Baldur's Gate. There is no room for '2' in the world of 1's and 0's, no place for 'mayhap' in a house of trues and falses, and no 'green with envy' in a black and white world.

Ah what a sweet list. Never played the Icewind Dale games or Descent to Undermountain though.

The Bard's Tale would be the earliest I've played. TRZP! loot! hooray! You gotta dig those PC internal speaker bard jams.

My favorite gamesas game was StoneKeep and left it up to now.
My friend gave me a disk with the game in the distant 90's, when Russia was covered by software piracy.
Localization of the game was great. Even now, after many years, some officials of localization are more poor quality than the translations created by pirates in the 90`s.
I am grateful to the developers, for the tremendous work done. I am grateful to pirates, who have excellent localization. Otherwise I would not love StoneKeep.
Greetings from Russia!

"Pass the light at night."

Bard's Tale. One of my very first computer RPGs after Adventure in Colossal Cave. I loved that game (and Bard's Tale 2) but was not so fond of the third installment in the series. Ahh the memories. :P Image

Man I had to go look up most of these games to figure out which came first. I played Wasteland first out of the list, but Bard's Tale is the oldest I've played.

"Thor is the greatest son of Odin"

Bard's Tale... My very first computer RPG. Man, that brings back a lot of good memories! However, I also remember my party getting killed a lot. Hehe, but that's okay as it made you think very carefully about each decision and place that you could visit. And I also like Bard's Tale II/III. Never got into the construction set though.

Peace,
Cor

FO2. Became a huge fan. Then FO1. Didn't like tactics. I usually install-deinstall stuff from my pc. but FO1/2 and Starcraft are games to stay forever =)

The Fallout series was the best because it was a new (and cruel) world. I did win a free copy of Baldur's Gate from the gamesas sale's team at a previous employer and I enjoyed that game as well as BG2. Here's to hoping for the Fallout MMO and a reasonable release date.

I agree and perhaps they will be able to get their DnD license back after the Fallout MMO. Perhaps, they can create a successful DnD MMO in the Forgotten Realms (And the planes) since Dungeons and Dragons Online did not do so well because most of the quests required a party. Not everyone wants to be in a party all the time. I know that I need a break from time to time in Lord of the Rings Online and this is when I do solo quests, crafting, explore (Eraidor, Eregion, Moria, and a little of Lothlorien) or load up my WARG in the Ettenmoors in LOTRO's PVP. And this is why LOTRO has been successful because of the diversity of what you can do. Plus the graphics and scenery rocks.
