POLL: Do you "bury" your fallen companions?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:48 am

I've only had one companion die, it was Lydia, and Boethia thanked me.

Interestingly yesterday my follower (who was uthgard) died and in whiterun a courier came up to me and gave me a letter that bequethed me 300 gold and condolences from the jarl, and when I went into the hall of the dead there was a coffin for her with her possesions in it. This was on my second playthrough and I've never seen it on my main

I had a similar thing happen to me, I had a brawl with that bloke who runs the stables outside riften, so logically he becomes a good friend of mine. Later Idecide to kill him because he's a
bit of a dike and lo and behold a few (in game) days later he has bequeathed me 500 gold in a will. See kids crime does pay, bethesda told me so.

Oh and I made a shrine to lydia atop the throat of the world, where she died fighting Alduin. I left the enchated sword I forged for her propped up against the world wall, seemed appropriate.

i revive them with dead thrall and take them to the sea of ghost, and drop them in along with a very nice group of flowers and jewelry

Don't they turn to ash?

I wish ash piles would say, "'s Ash Pile," or "'s Ash Pile."

Like "Lydia's Ash Pile," "Bandit's Ash Pile," and "Frost Troll's Ash Pile."

Just so if you wanted to "cremate" someone (like Lydia) or something (like the dog Meeko.) you would be able to distinguish between ash piles with enchanting an item and naming it after them.

I shoved Lydia's corpse down the gap between the wall and the bed in Breezehome's spare bedroom. Out of sight, out of mind.

They are sometimes very heavy but I usually cross their arms or place a shield by them. For dogs that I have I usually give them the most heroic "burials" they stuck with me through thick and thin and killed many with me they are bigger heroes than my humanoid companions who shy away after being hurt.... pathetic.

When Lydia died, it was one of the saddest gaming moment when I threw her into the river. I also bury some other persons.
I deal with my DB targets like in Assassins Creed, after killing I sit next to them for a second and tell them to RIP.

If I could dig a hole, I might be inclined to bury them.

I don't mind when a companion dies (which for my part is often because I'm an evil mage slinging fireballs left and right and raising everyone's corpse...) it's when I can't find my companion's corpse is when I get upset because they have a ton of my loot... :P

Usually my companion just disappears one day, might be stuck on a rock, tree, or just walking in circles. Eventually I get a 'Dear John' letter (message) from my companion telling me something about being tired of trying to figure out how to walk around the tree, so she's going to head on home.

Honestly, I'm kind of tired of babysitting my companions, if it wasn't for their mule capabilities, I'd not bother with one at all.

I stripped Lydia naked, and chucked her of the Throat of the World. Does that count?

Depends on were i am. I may burn, bury, or have them float off into the river in a nice funeral.

I draged some bandits in to the river near white run but the Cross current is so strong that they kept crashing into the bank
and would get stuck, even when i draged them into the middel of the river the cross current is just way to strong.

I want to know how you people are moving and propping up NPCs/items with such horrible controls. I'm lucky if I have enough patience to drag a corpse to a wall let alone set up a shrine  .

I've never had a companion die. But if I did, it's called reload. Saves are a wonderful thing. Noone dies if I don't want them to in my world.

I've had one of my Dark Brotherhood initiates die and I simply put a Nightshade petal next to him before firing off an arrow in the sky. That's basically a field ceremony. I take his armor though to preserve the secret of the Dark Brotherhood.

I've only had one companion in this game, and I sacrificed her to Boethia. And no, I didn't bury Lydia either. I just looted her body, then left her carcass for the wolves and sabre cats to fight over. The same thing I do for every piece of Nord trash I've killed in Skyrim. I wish they all had one throat, so I could strangle them all at once and be done with it.

This. Thank you. Even tried a new companion instead of Lydia for awhile, and realized that after her having my back for 40 hours it felt like I was cheating on her. If I'm making it through this game alive, I damn well intend for my trusty sidekick to make it as well.
