Polling the forum on attribute absense

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 6:02 am

I think it's time to poll the people on the condensation of attributes into the three core stats(Health, Magicka, Stamina), skills, and perks.

This thread is meant to give us a quick visual image of how everyone else feels about this change and discuss. There are many opinions flying around, so let's see how the majority feels.

Personally, I feel like it could be a hassle at times keeping up with what buffs/debuffs were doing to my character. I think that if I can have visual bars on my screen that sum of the important statistics of my character, all the better.

Mostly, I trust in Bethesda to push the envelope and give us a great game that is innovative and fun.

There's a poll on the top of the page with an active thread.

It's a good idea when the new system performs the same exact funtion as the old one, only more simplified/cleaner.

People tend to think that simplify = bad. That's untrue when it does the same exact thing.

No more +5 multiplier nonsense making leveling secondary skills more important than primary skills? :goodjob: :foodndrink:

Two things:
1) The other one is different. It's about perks vs attributes. This poll focuses on how we feel about the removal of attributes as a whole.
2) They posted it at the same time as me.

This. On topic I do think the new perk system will work better than attributes based system.

Personally I see this as part of Bethesdas continued watering down of their games in a effort to play to the casual gamer. Oblivion was watered down when compared with Morrowind, and I fear Skyrim will be watered down when compared with Oblivion. At this rate, anything remotely complex or antyhing that requires the user to choose will be removed and the game will just play itself for you. I mean, we can't have casual gamers actually having to think or explore now can we?

Ok, so maybe that was a little over the top... but sadly enough its not all that far from the truth.

It's a good idea I hated how Attributes were used in Oblivion. My Major skills should be more important not the minor skills.

This topic has nothing to do with the perk system.

Bethesda made a huge move, RPG wise, removing the core block of attributes. Discuss that. Mostly just vote.

While the +5 grind is gone (a major plus), the fact that it has been simplified to 3 attributes does concern me. Going to have to wait to play the game to see if it was a side-step or not. Hopefully the perks can pick up the slack in fun, and inventive ways.

This poll is to serve mainly as a gauge of the community's reaction to today's bomb shell. I believe there should be a singlular place of discussion of the same topics on the forums. Either this will be a successful attempt to create one, or it won't be.

It will be interesting to see how the skills and the perks will pick up the slack of the lost weight in the character sheet.

So instead of fixing that system, they simply cut it off. Good, they showed us how is done.

It does because some people are saying that health, stamina and magicka are the new 3 attributes (which is wrong I know) which relates to the perk system. I explained myself quite badly :P Basically I'm saying I like Beth's new system.

I think removing the class system had already solved a lot of the meta-gaming problems with Attributes and i'm very dissappointed they have been removed entirely.

Please search for and use the already open thread. I'd provide a link but my time is stretched at the moment. Sorry.
