Poor finisher

I just got the random Amata and Enclave encounter, for the first time ever!!!! :bunny:

It was cool. A little south of Fairfax ruins. They had her surrounded but were talking peacefully about she was going to go with them.
So I saved my game. And killed the troops. And ran up to her, and she said, "Get away from me! This is all your fault."

So I reloaded my game, and killed the troops while stealthboyed and with the Perforator, so that she was alone. And I ran up to her and she said the same thing.

So I reloaded my game, and watched what would happen, and the troops just kinda stood there, and she walked off. So I followed her a distance from then, ran up to her, and she said the same thing.

Lame.

Here's the backstory (Speech Skill of 90):

I disabled the water chip. I convinced the Overseer that I had caught a rebel doing it. Then when I saw Amata at the exit, I convinced her that that I saw the Overseer do it. And they both believed me. And the Overseer is wandering the empty halls by himself, with the rest of the Vault in the wastes.

Why would she say this to me unless it is a scripted deal, no matter what I did in there. It was like all that fast talking was for nothing, as the game had already decided that I wouldn't get away with the lies, and yet I was rewarded for successful lies.

I would just put a bullet in her head and be on your way. You can easilly find another mule, I mean woman on your travels.

I also keep encountering new random events for the first time as well. I've lost a lot of hours of my life to this game lol and it amazes me at the new things you still discover. I love the random Encalve encounters as I progressed the MQ far enough to make them appear at the purifier. Makes for some really awesome battles on the streets of the wasteland. I lose a lot of somewhat vaulable NPC's, but wasn't it a gloriously fun time.

It's the same no matter what.

She hates you if she ends up in the wastes at all. When she likes you she's inclosed in Vault 101.

But... everyone believed me.... :stare:

As for random encounters, I found some Enclave troops doing laps around a parking lot. Then they did pushups. Then I nuked them. 240 Experience points all at once. Kinda northwestish of the Red Racer.

Actually, what normally happens.

Amata: "I'm from Vault 101, please help me! You must help me!"

Enclave Officer: "Of course, of course, can you please give us the location of your vault?"

Amata: "Sure! It's on my pip-boy right here"

*Gives them the data*

Enclave Officer: "We're done here, gun her down."

Amata: "No!"

*Dies*

It's something of that sort.

Wow. It must have been a glitch. There did seem to be a pause, but Amata just did her little stroll out of the area.

But still.

My choices did not matter at all, even though I was rewarded for the speech checks, that is, Bethesda didn't follow through. Black Horse Courier anyone?

Yeah well it's Fallout 3, your choices mean nothing. Not biased or anything but I really don't like this encounter, there's absolutely no reason for Amata to be gunned down; just more ham-fisted black-and-whiteness. Why on Earth would the Enclave ever need to access Vault 101 for it's "data" like it says in the Vault, what possible purpose would there be for not repatriating the Vault 101 Dwellers or at least what justification is there for slaughtering them (which was the LW's implication to Amata in the quest).

Perhaps the actions of some rouge officer?

Otherwise there is no reason.
