you don't have to do it if you pass the speak challenge. persuade, bribe, or intimidate the stupid farmer into telling you what he knows.

Uh. I just paid the guy. I'm not going to chase a goat to avoid paying out less than 500 gold....

Pffft don't listen to those Giant hugging hippies...

Just think of that scrummy toe with the slightly charred nail. (ok it isn't charred but it is best that you think it is because it will explain the black bits in a way that wont make your stomache churn) :hubbahubba:

i would have had to pay 1000 gold. and now the stupid toe is stuck in my inventory as a quest item
Its a shame though, he seemed really happy with that goat.

? It was 161 gold.... and I left, then killed a dragon as I left, and the entire populace of Rorikstead turned out to gawk....

You can also dodge the giant, talk to the goat, then run like hell. :bolt:

It isn't very dignified, but dignity is probably a silly thing to worry about by that point.

Sneak up behind the giant, "activate" the goat and run away before he sees you. The goat will follow.

I kept the goat!

Gleda is a much better companion than the available dogs, as she does not push me off mountaintops.

You should still be able to complete the quest without returning her, as during my previous playthrough I skipped that part of the quest entirely. However, I'm not sure what will happen to Gleda when I get to the very end.
