Popularity of crysis 2?

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:27 pm

Hey guys I waas just wondering about the popularity of crysis 2. Im really aniticipated for the game but as good as it is, I have to say it is not as popular. It isnt one of those games where everyone knows about it and talk about it the whole time like modern warfare 2 (**** game)

Not exactly a household name like Call of Duty or Halo, but the mention of its name on forums sets them ablaze in a cacophony of conspiracy theories, claims of consolization, and the rabid defense of fanboys and the people who actually cared to look up the game. I can see it doing very well :)

It's all about marketing. That is how you make a game popular.

Activision pours so much money into showing off Call of Duty that it is about the only thing you see from them, and nothing more.

EA is already on track with that, since they are preparing a huge marketing campaign with Crysis 2. It might be well known very soon.

No one knows about crysis at my school, all everyone talks about there is their precious black ops and halo reach which are kinda imature games that only 10 year olds play and when i talk to them bout crysis they rekon its kinda gay. Wtf??? I bet if crysis 2 was the next installment of halo they would be all over it.

Not to mention that CoD/Halo have built a fan base through multiple titles.
Halo 1 was popular, Halo 2 was even more popular, and so on.
When they build a fan-base it pretty much grows itself.
Very thew people have heard of Crysis outside of PC's.

Crysis 2 wont be anywhere near as popular as CoD or halo, but Crysis 3 might be.
I think a "Bad Company - level of success" is more realistic, for consoles anyway.

I think what you mean is they hype and the lack of information from Crytek. Crytek's always been sort of a shut in when it comes to game info. Ever since Far Cry I remember they wouldn't peep a word about it and when I bought it, it was about a week after release because nobody had it on release day. I think now that Far Cry and Crysis are successful you'll start to hear a little more from websites but not so much like Bungie where they have weekly info and information being given quite frequently. Its just the nature of this company. When you do finally play Crysis 2 though, you're going to be extremely amazed like all of Crytek's games. The lack of information given will let your brain do the reviewing if you catch my drift.

This game doesn't have to be popular to succeed. It just has to be a Crytek game, and people will flock to it like moths to a flame. Its the nature of the company.

Ever since 2007, Crytek has been worth the appeal and wait. And true, like moths to the flame, Crysis 2 will beat Crysis 1 in popularity... :)

Cryteck
and its games have been PC based till now, most of the other mentioned titles have been multi platform and thus more available to the younger audience who usually cant afford to build a rig, so the console based fans aint even heard the word until more recently.
Also, it did cuase quite a stir when announced as a multi platform game, but then but this waned in light of the delay until March next year, all i can say is watch this space. lol
It will be a real buzz

The game is based on Ny and the major buyers live at Ny. How ironic :P

You know how many tourists come to the big apple? That would boost sales in many other places as well. Another thing is news coverage which crysis 2 would get if ea did that ^^
