Port Skyrim to Android & iOS!

Post » Sun Oct 12, 2014 11:52 am

Hello fellow Skyrim fans,

I am posting this forum today to suggest a port of Skyrim to mobile devices (Specifically Android and iOS tablets [such as the iPad and NVIDIA Shield Tablet]). There are already mods for Skyrim that make it run better on low end computers, so with some developer-implementation of a similar modifications, I am sure that Skyrim could run at a very playable 30+fps on newer tablets.

I'm not talking just a small port of a few areas. I mean the entire game, with full mod and DLC support. No unneccessary texture downscaling, animation overhauls, or AI changes either; just Skyrim, pure and true.

Modding support would be simple, I think. For iOS, just mount your iPad or simillar device to your computer, and drop mod files into the Skyrim app's documents folder. For Android, just mount with a computer (or even just from a file browser in Android) and drop mod files into something like .../Skyrim/mods/ .

Tell me what you guys think, and let's see if we can bring this to Bethesda's attention!

After what Bethesda went through for the PS3, I doubt it. Plus it would only be playable on a small number of tablets.
EDIT: The Nvidia Tablet is the best one yet, and it can only run Half Life 2 at lower settings at 40 - 60 fps, unless it's just a bad port.

Bethesda are completely finished with Skyrim and won't be porting anything. They announced this well over a year ago.

Wow! Some fast and ultimately disapointing response... thanks for the info though! I know that OpenMW is porting Morrowind to Android... perhaps someone with experience like this will do that for Skyrim in the future. I guess I'll have to wait and see!

I think that's probably the only chance you have of Skyrim being ported. Welcome to the forums by the way. :D

https://openmw.org/en/ is a project to rebuild the Morrowind engine.
Although I don't ever recall them saying it would be on Android.

Edit:
Another person is doing a port to Android, not officially part of OpenMW team, but it will require the OpenMW open source code.
