[WIP] Portabello Road Boutique

Post » Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:17 am

With gracious permission from Kathryn I am now announcing a WIP involving her many resource collections. This will be done in phases. For each new installment there will be new merchants. I may combine gown installments and lingerie installments to two respective merchants. So far I have mannequins and scripts that will allow you to "try-on" the clotheing in the fitting room. Currently I'm tossing around ideas on how to make a faux-reflective mirror.

What it's never been done? Well it's reflective but not in the sense you may think. The script I'm toying with will allow involve the fitting room, and an adjacent room that is created to mirror the fitting room. I need to customize a door to look like a mirror is in front with an invisible barrier preventing you from going through. Upon entering the fitting room a clone of you is created that matches your movement in reverse. Now the tricky part will be to get the clone to match your clothing choice without bogging down the system with excessive scripts. This part may never see the light of day, and if anyone has toyed with it before let me know. No sense in reinventing the wheel.

Right now I'm near release of her Jewel collection. There are eight collections in total ranging from elegant to naughty to down right sixy! Some screenies are so hot, I won't be able to link to from here. I'm half way through adding the first Lingerie collection. I know there are BB mannequins, but doesn anyone know of any simple mannequins of just body parts? For example, legs to show off the boots and stockings, or a bust to show off negligee?

I think Balmora and Vivec are a bit overloaded with mod-added merchants. TR is a nice idea, but you'd want a second shop in Vvardenfell for those who don't use TR.

Why can't we have a clothier in Sadrith Mora? Those dresses look very Telvanni. ;)

Agree with Stuporstar about placing a shop in TR. Not everyone uses it, some people only visit once their character has "finished" on Vvardenfell. I'd go with Ebonheart. As the seat of government everybody whos anybody will at least visit from time to time (well except the Telvanni, they'd probably just send a flunky).

I voted Mournhold. These dresses look like stuff for nobles and rich people.
Are you going to build different shops around the world for different dress styles?

Piinyouri: Thank you, for your compliment.

I am toying around with where I want the shops. I'm a true-blood Telvanni so Sadrith Mora and Ebonheart are two of my favorite picks. I didn't include Sadrith Mora in the poll because of another Clothier taking up residence near there. Can't remember which one off the top of my head, but I think it is a Korana mod. Though I could just as easily add a Telvanni pod in town. Plus I agree with Amazon Queen that Ebonheart is a major seat of foreign and domestic power in Vvardenfell. _Taddeus_ is also right that the styles are what one might expect of Mournhold.

On that note, I was toying with the idea of a seperate MCA addon that would replace the attire of "noblewoman" with the dresses based upon city and faction. The lengerie also provides someone else with resources to alter the dancers of Earthly Desires so that they wear random lengerie.

Stuporstar: Love your Uvirith Legacy and may add an external clothier to Tel Uvirith in homage.
_Taddeus_: I hadn't really thought about adding the dresses to shops based upon local flavor but that is a good idea. Let me know if any of your NoM ladies want a makeover.

After the lengerie collection is the Glastonbury dress pack, and in my opinion I believe these would be close akin to an Ebonheart style especially on the Breton/Imperial ladies.

I would love a clothier around Tel Uvirith. :D BuUG compatibility would have to be considered of course, because it is a very popular mod.

I decided to vote Ebonheart though for this mod. Amazon Queen makes a very convincing argument. :)

Just finished adding Kats Lingerie Collection and edited the first post with progress thus far.
They are set up so that you can wear negligee, suspender belts and knee boots at the same time. There's a great silver set that best illustrates this. There are four other generic colors of suspender belts that take up the pants slot. Also I've gotten the suspenders and stockings to show up under the alpha textures of the dresses.

I do not have photoshop and don't know how to censor the photos otherwise. If anyone wants to do this for me, I'll take some screenies of the lingerie.

Looks very nice. I voted Caldera, but seems my choice isn't popular. :P Of course, I'm used to and thrive on that fact. ;)

CoV puts clothiers in most of those places, but that's not such a bad thing. I wouldn't mind having a single location where my PC can do all of her shopping. I vote Ebonheart, for that reason and also because as an Imperial port town, it would be the most likely place for the newest fashions to make landfall in MW.

I think the simple solution is to provide multiple esp.s each placing the boutique in a different town , the bulk of the work will most likely be in a single interior cell which can be copied for each location so you only need provide an exterior building that fits in with the town it is located, or in the case of Vivec , place a door inside one of the cantons that is linked to your interior cell boutique.

I'm with Slarti, I would hate to see this in an imperial settlement, especially Pelagiad. A Hlaalu town would be best imho.

Well, after talking with _Taddeus_ I was actually thinking that multiple locations would sell parts of the collection based on style. I'm half way throught he Glastonbury collection and resting my eyes. There are some wonderful outfits in this collection. Screenies to appear as soon as I'm finished.

Edit: Finished the Glastonbury collection and am in the process of adding Screenshots to photobucket.
Edit2: Reorgainzed the photobucket account. Updated links in the first post.
