Oooh ok. That makes me happy.
Yeah, there's a link in the thread that explains the Steam timer is currently broken. Portal 1 restricted the places you could put portals, but I do kinda agree that there are some chambers where it's extremely specific. Though, with some of the mechanics they've introduced, I can kind of understand the restrictions they put on it.
this is something I've been thinking about regarding the portal gun
so apparently it can only shot at specific surfaces? Surfaces with that white gel on it or white walls basically. So my question is, would it work in a real world setting without a controlled environment like Aperture.
if I go out to the woods with the portal gun could I shoot it at a tree and get a portal? if I go to the Grand Canyon would I be able to shoot a portal at the bottom and shoot a portal at the top and instantly go from top to bottom?
I ask this because if you actually can't fire a portal without this controlled substance than what purpose would it serve in a real-world setting? Building codes would have to be completely redesigned to allow for this gel, and then obviously terrorists/assassins/warring factions would want to use something like this so as a form of protection people WOULDN'T want to coat a building in the portable gel.
the only way this could possibly be practical is as a form of highly controlled transportation, and even then unless they make a portal that can funnel through more than one person at a time you won't be able to replace cars or trains with a portal gun since you'd have lines of over MILLIONS of people every morning and thus would render itself completely impractical and fairly dangerous
