Spoiler
I really love that Turret Opera. I wish Valve had made a full version. I'm actually tempted to post in some sort of Opera related forum (if such a thing exists) and ask if anyone knows of a similar sounding, longer song. It's just that good.

Okay, so my copy of Portal 2 has just arrived. It's odd that they put it in the mailbox, who knows when it actually arrived.

Anyway, time to get'a playin'. ^_^

Anyone know where the Weighted Companion Cube is in co-op? I might go looking for it.

Oooh ok. That makes me happy.

Yeah, there's a link in the thread that explains the Steam timer is currently broken. Portal 1 restricted the places you could put portals, but I do kinda agree that there are some chambers where it's extremely specific. Though, with some of the mechanics they've introduced, I can kind of understand the restrictions they put on it.

this is something I've been thinking about regarding the portal gun

so apparently it can only shot at specific surfaces? Surfaces with that white gel on it or white walls basically. So my question is, would it work in a real world setting without a controlled environment like Aperture.

if I go out to the woods with the portal gun could I shoot it at a tree and get a portal? if I go to the Grand Canyon would I be able to shoot a portal at the bottom and shoot a portal at the top and instantly go from top to bottom?

I ask this because if you actually can't fire a portal without this controlled substance than what purpose would it serve in a real-world setting? Building codes would have to be completely redesigned to allow for this gel, and then obviously terrorists/assassins/warring factions would want to use something like this so as a form of protection people WOULDN'T want to coat a building in the portable gel.

the only way this could possibly be practical is as a form of highly controlled transportation, and even then unless they make a portal that can funnel through more than one person at a time you won't be able to replace cars or trains with a portal gun since you'd have lines of over MILLIONS of people every morning and thus would render itself completely impractical and fairly dangerous

I think highly controlled transportation would be insanely useful regardless.

Anyway, it works on the moon, so I would imagine it just needs a flat surface.

I think the portal gun works on all flat, non-metallic surfaces. That or it only works on lunar rock and they applied it to the facility walls.

The latter is the theory behind it. This white paint actually contains pulverised lunar rock. Seems Mad Hatter Syndrome brought Cave Johnson to the right conclusion for its use. What a tragicomic person.

It mentions lunar rock is a GOOD conductor. It doesn't state it's the only one.

AH, just finished the single-player campaign, now to find somebody to -co-op with.

Loved it too. The Cave Johnson bits were hilarious.

Portal 2 Co-op: The reason this game is awesome. More dialogue. Clever chambers. Even a freakin' story line. Antibody and I played through and it took us about 5-6 hours to complete.

This is up there in my top 10 games of all time.

I was really grumpy the other day, I revise my Portal 2 score to 9. I still want Episode 3 though.

So, what kind of game is Portal 2? Would I need to play the first to follow the second? I'm thinking about buying the PS3 version.

It's a puzzle-action game. You'd have to play the first one to understand some things and get some references, but Portal 2 could be a standalone game. I would highly highly suggest playing the first one first, though.

Just played through the co-op with SImpsonfly. Got it done in just under six hours by my estimate. Though I did already do a few chambers with a pubby by that point

Was an enjoyable experience,

Alright, I've been thinking.

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these?!

Demand to see life's manager!

Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons!

Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down!

With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

True story time: I was having a really rotten, "oh hai here's a bunch of lemons" kind of day the day I hit that last rant. Started laughing and literally could not stop for at least five minutes.

I think Cave Johnson managed to make my day there, if not my week.

True, true. But it was the best one they found, and they nearly ruined the company getting so much of that bloody stuff.

How the hell could it be the first they found? What did they do to invent the portal gun prior to getting moon rock? It makes no sense to think of it as either the first or only conductive substance. The most common perhaps, but not the only. I mean if the tubes with the moon rock were shut down, then what was the current aperture science walls coated with? Like I said, it doesn't add up.

For something to be "a good X", they must have enough experience with X to rank them. Thus, moon rock is not the only conductor.
