Portal 2 Discussion: The Rebirth

Post » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:07 am

Apparently you get a special something if you get 36 potatoes/1 golden potato. Some of the challenges are so ridiculous, though. I spent about four hours last night trying to finish "The Device Has Been Modified" with Gold on Audiosurf. Bleh.

Protip: For that one, focus on just one color and the white blocks. It was just like ninja mono except blue was the new grey.

The Justine expansion and the Ball Portal levels were pretty cool.

I'm gonna have to buy it with cash, so I'm gonna have to wait until Tuesday after work regardless. Poo.

Do you guys have any information on the new SDK? Gabe Newell said in an interview that right now most of Valve's resources were being spent on a long-awaited upgrade to the Source SDK.

The overclock just hit:

10:50 - Engaging starch-based power cells

The potato count is going down fairly fast. Not exactly sure what that's doing, but hey. Something is happening. This is important.

Your surprise. I wonder what Glados will give you?

Edit
That or Gabe Newell just got in for lunch. Take your pick.

11:00 - Relaxation chamber locks released...
11:00 - Involuntary hazard mitigation associates have assumed testing positions...
11:00 - Pre-release lethality assessment initiated...

ALSO: The background now says "Nine" and not "Zero"

And Golden Potato winners. There was a guide, but I was really too lazy. It's only a few hours anyways.

Edit
I'm more antsy for my new PSU.

Oh well. I'm at work until 6pm today. And who knows, maybe I can lobby to GameStop that Glados sent me to pick up the game early.

It could work, right? Or maybe I can still get the preorder stuff since it technically doesn't release until tomorrow.

No? Huh could have sworn I seen someone say that. Could have been a troll, those forums shift and change faster than here.

Right now i'm still struggling to figure out if I should player single player or Co-Op. After that i'm wondering if I should play it for quite a while or get right down to map making. Really love portal and how it infuses critical as well as obtuse thinking in an FPS sort of way. Already got some ideas for killer puzzles, but the question is do I make them single player or Co-Op.

Ummm... do both in tandem? Co-op has a completely separate set of maps.

I did some math of my own after timing the rate of potato consumption on the GlaDOS@home thing, and it's about 12/sec. It will run out of potatoes in about 7 hours 40-ish minutes at my last check (49 minutes at my last reading)

Definitely a troll. The only people who got to play Portal 2 early were the 'infected' ones.

Also, I am okay. I am still a person. Who is still alive. I'm busy posting on the forums while being supervised by a responsible safety associate.

You used the Source SDK before? We should have a club.

Quick question : I did a bit of potato-games - just to join in, didn't have the time required to seriously commit. Anyway, the bittripbit glados part was funny, and I understand other games have some references too (someone mentionned the ball, it seems).

That will remain, right ? I'd love to trip on those references unexpectedly, later on. :)
