Positive thinking with the Q&A

I think I was over all very happy about this, now that I've let this thread sink in a bit, the forum has just gotten me down...

You want positive, I'll copy/paste my reply to another thread :

I am not entirely happy with the same speed regardless of race, and a few things about the UI and HUD.
I am happy with barroom brawling, more armour types, enchanting, children, marriage, minor quest choices, different ways to cast spells, perks, more variety in architecture, world scaling up to level 50, tactical sprinting, using natural poisons, grindstones, disposition on race and gender, fog, wildlife, an economy system however simple, racial weapon types, different bounties for different holds, non numerical fame and infamy, that stormcall shout, and http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/screenshots/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim/TheElderScrollsVSkyrimMedia/Markarth01.jpg picture.
So yeah, that and the five year wait. I'm buying.
[Oh yeah, Kirkbride is back onboard]

That positive enough? I've been playing computer games more than 30 years, and never wanted a game so much.

Reading all these forums is mentally draining due to the level of depressing comments. I'm on the fence about how well the Q and A was handled as well as some of the controversial features that were confirmed like more merged armour. I think all the opinions wether positive or negative are a all valid in their concerns, I hate how some people are trying to act like the "high tom titt(Y)" by repremanding every single negative/critical comment and calling them childish and ungrateful. But I also agree that this game and its developers are still doing a fantastic job and feel sorry for them for having to read the forums today. I think they should just close the forums for a bit just to let them cool down...

Its getting ridiculous and stupid. People who were previously excited, are saying "Omg Marriage is gonna be like Fableh. Not buying". Its annoying how some gamers can be.

I knew it, I read the Q&A then got off, then I KNEW that people would whine about EVERYTHING... *sigh*

I called it first!

I look forward to the million or so threads made afterwards that whine about something or other.

I've pretty much decided to not go in here anymore, except for a quick peek every few weeks to see if there's any interesting info. The actual discussions here are just too depressing.

Back to the modding forums/community discussion! :bolt:

This is exactly why I never have any expectations of anything. That way everything will be more awesome.

Disappointment? I loved the thing even more than I thought I would! That being said, my reaction doesn't seem to be prominently displayed throughout the forum, and I suspect that it represents the minority of those speaking out about the Q&A. What I basically saw was Bethesda doing their thing, making decisions, providing their reasoning, and showing me something that could be more promising than its previous games. No 64-but executable? Okay. No Spears? I guess some people would be disappointed, but if you're so eager to drop it then I really don't feel like you would have given us a good representation of spears. Racial differences? Thank you very much, sirs. Brawls? I'd love to. Marriage? That seems like an interesting mechanic to play with. Game-altering decisions that prevent advancement in advancement in certain questlines implemented in a logical manner? Awesome!

I am very pleased with the state of Skyrim. I am sad that some console-users are being deprived of a couple sizable features that they wanted. I am not sad about anyone complaining about the addition of marriage or the merging of greaves and cuirasses.

i agree completely i am in no way shape or form disappointed by the Q&A. im more disappointed by the overall negativity of the threads being posted as a result of it. im glad there are at least a few people who can show some positivity.

i cant believe that people expected so much out of the Q&A. they just set them selves up for disappointment. and their disappointment set us up for the flood of negative threads.
i find nothing wrong with anything the Q&A said.
its the devs choice to do what they want. and its your choice to play the game. or at some point change it to the way you see fit.
you dont like it. you dont have to tell everyone. because news flash... not everyone cares.

my thoughts exactly

I know right? Loads of exciting new things announced and what does the Forum do? They freak out over Knee Guards for christ's sake! I still can't wait to play Skyrim, in fact I'm more excited now than ever!

Oh look, some people who think like I do. :D I stopped reading as much a while ago because the complainers take things in a downward spiral....who needs that? When Skryim is released, I'll be the one playing it and I think I'll be pretty happy. Until then....just passing the time with other games.

Honestly, I feel bad for people who think the game is ruined becuase of a few trivial things.
I'll be enjoying it, and looking forward to all the new info, while they're left bitter. A lot of it seems to be people who want Daggerfall 2 or morrowind 2

The only thing I found slightly disappointing wasn't the information, I just expected more information. At least 50 questions.

It also seemed like they were given what they could say, and tried to release it any way possible, the bar fight answer didn't really belong to the question and could have easily not been mentioned.
Over all I don't think there is a single thing that I'm not looking forward too. I'm already in love with the world, and as far as I'm concerned, they already have my $60.

why waste time by dwelling on the "bad".

Why waste time drooling over the "good"?

Everything you said is a matter of opinion. Some of us, believe it or not, are quite happy with all the changes made so far.

And some of us aren't.

Well then why are you acting as if every change being made has "Ruined the Series" and how "Consoles are dumbing Down games" or whatever? You have a right to be mad if they cut a feature you like but acting as if the world is about to end is just taking it too far.

Well, it's not like we're going to have any great influence on the decision making at this point anyway. I certainly hear things about the development I'm skeptical about, but I know there's not alot I can do that will change that.

Elderscrolls games have always been one of my favourite forms of entertainment, so Bethesda can sleep soundly in the knowledge that I'll be sure to buy it ( and that's purely because of the name ).

Perhaps it just won't be that perfect game we all hope for, but I'd imagine it will still satisfy and be worth the £40 I'll spend on it.
