What is the lore on possession? As in, daedric possession of a mortal.

One of Daggerfall's random quests can involve daedric possession of a child, but there haven't been any I can think of in these days of Morrowind and Oblivion, so gamesas may have dropped possession.

So would it be a viable RP with the current lore? In Oblivion that is.

You'd get more out of possession in a Dragon age rp, honestly. Even when possession was presented in Daggerfall, it was the "child is speaking daedric gibberish and being annoying" variety. Nothing all that interesting. Legion was a much more interesting possession.

As far as lore goes, instead of straight up possession I'd reccomend taking a look at the lore book Feyfolken. In that book, an enchanted quill goes horribly, horribly wrong when it turns out the daedra inside is a little more free than expected.

Umbra is exactly what I was thinking of.
Is Umbra daedric?

Umbra is a case of an enchanted item effecting it's users, like in Feyfolken. It simply isn't the kind of possession the OP was talking about. (He meant something akin to demonic possession. which was what he asked about before he corrected his OP) Also, Umbra was created by a mortal, though we don't know the full story on what spirit was used to forge the enchantment. (Clavicus Vile claims it contains the soul of a hero)

Umbra was some dude trapped in the Umbra sword.
Escaped some how and stole some of Clavicus's power by wounding him with the sword.
Clavicus blocked him from leaving, so he threw the sword back the nirn so Clavicus couldn't trap him in it again.

So it probably has some part of his soul or spirit in it, and he has deadric level powers.
If he can possess people using a fraction of daedric power, its probably safe to assume any deadra could.
