Is it possible to center 3rd person view?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:57 pm

Maybe odd but when playing in 3rd person view, I get kind of disorientated by the fact that my player figure is not centred but it's left of the centre. I suppose this is on purpose so you can see what is in front of you when looking straight from the back.
But is there a way to get the 3rd person view centred? So the figure in the centre of my screen instead of slightly to the left?

You can add these settings to your Skyrim.ini and tweak them until you have the camera position to your liking.

[Camera]
fOverShoulderCombatAddZ=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatAddY=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatAddX=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosZ=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosY=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosX=0.0000
fOverShoulderPosY=0.0000
fOverShoulderPosX=0.0000
fOverShoulderHorseAddY=13.0000
fOverShoulderHorsePosZ=0.0000
fOverShoulderHorsePosX=0.0000

Mmm, it's not working? Even tried big values but no difference to be noticed what so ever in camera position. Tried it in Skyrim.ini like you said, no effects. Tried it then in SkyrimPrefs.ini but also no effect.

Sometimes to see changes you have to sheathe/unsheathe weapon in 3rd person view.

Yes, tried that too: with and without weapons drawn. But there is no difference to be seen with [Camera] used or without it.

Just to be sure it has to be the Skyrim.ini in your My Games\Skyrim directory that you edit. Or you could try http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=528&tab=3&navtag=/modules/comments/comments_ajax.php?tid=465055|:|fid=528. I have a basic centred version in there somewhere.

Really need to get around to updating and answering some comments there actually, but real life and RAF tests take priority.

Ah I think I know what I did wrong: I did copy and past that whole row of settings Kastagir did gave and altered. Seems now that I see the settings from Bal Cleric, only some of those lines have to be added and altered. Getting results now :)

Nice, I dig this thread and want to give thanks. Due to the resolution I'm running the 3rd person camera angles and stuff are often distorted due to the ultra wide and this will do wonders to help me find a nicer fit.

Thanks again!
