Possible Challenges to Increase Difficulty

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:19 pm

It might be a bit early to start thinking about this but I thought it would be pretty fun to imagine how difficult we could make the game.

Heres What we have so Far:

1. Must be played on hardcoe with Difficulty set as Very Hard (The-Hero-Of-Time)
2. Limit on Water, Only allowed to carry 5-10 Unit of water (The-Hero-Of-Time)
3. Limit on amount of guns your allowed to carry (5 - 1 melee 2 Small guns 2 big guns/Energy weapons) (The-Hero-Of-Time)
4. No Fast travel (Ozzyschach)
5. STR or END Must be 1 (Gabriel77dan) + (EightySix)
6. No Killing (Hgu)
7. No Stimpaks or Doctors bag (Bulwark)
8. No Powerbuild/Max Stats (ErikNikolai)
9. Only use what you can find, No gifts or rewards from quests (TheTuninator)
10. No VATS (The-Hero-Of-Time)
11. Max stealth ASAP and only travel at night (Gurkog)

Have fun creating your own Challenges!

How about, You must be a pacifist, trigun style, If you encounter an enemy, shoot the gun out of it's hand and run like hell

I seriously hope I won't have to self-gimp myself to get a decent challenge.
But if I do then it's simple: STR 1 + hardcoe Mode.
Let's see how cocky I'll be when I cant hold a weapon straight and can't carry more than a book. :P

Although stimpaks do not heal instantly (HC), how about not using them at all.

- Only heal with food/water and use of doctors
- Do not use doctors bags

. . . . Well. If we're all gonna play make believe, I'd like to imagine how frustrating it will be to unwrap the game from its vault-tec plastic wrap while in my excited omg its released panic. Theres my hard challenge.

I'm off to find more what if, bestest idea!, suggestions for change, who's bettah?, and area 51 threads.

How about simply not creating a powerbuild? I always get a crack out of people who spend days planning the perfectly efficient and statistically maximised powerbuild, only to complain that the game got too easy in the mid-end.

In FO3 i always play veryhard and put my endurance to 1, not my strength though, i do love my goodies, Def looking forward to HC because then I'm going to have to adapt!

edit: Btw strength is needed for some weapons, like the anti-material rifle needs 8 strength which is huge. where most others need around 2-4.

Your character could be an individual who refuses to accept charity.

This means that you are only allowed to use items you find or take off of dead people. Items given as gifts for quest rewards, etc, cannot be used. Neither can houses; you need to carve out your own dwellings.

Maybe to you, but some people might want to see what it's like to be nonviolent. I'm not a pacifist, but I vastly prefer talking things out over the use of bullets.

No killing sounds kind of impossible since everything in the wasteland wants your nuts on a platter.
