(Possible) Crysis 2 PC Requirements Revealed

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:24 am

IF it just so happens that does turn out true, my computer will eat it up, on minimum atleast. :)

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T @ 3.6GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 @ 800MHz core/1600 shader/2000 memory
Corsair 4GB DDR3 @ 1600 CL8-8-8-24
Biostar TA890FXE Motherboard
Thermaltake Toughpower 775w Power Supply
Antec Twelve Hundred Full-Tower Case
Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM
Razed Copperhead Mouse
Steelseries Siberia Headset
Asus 25.5" 1920x1200 2ms response Monitor

'Nom 'Nom 'Nom ;)

Still worried about what maxing this game will actually take, though.

What impressive specs, yet the OP is just a speculated theory. Put that in mind :|

These do look like quite modest requirements. I would guess they are 'minimum' but who knows. Look at the requirements for Homefront for example. Plus, afaik, no one has confirmed that Crysis 2 has DX11 elements included - it's all speculation at present.

What if it's recommended?

I don't think that's the recommended. Recommednded graphics card will probably be a Dx11 card, seeing that Crysis 2 will take advantage of Dx11.

That's true however chances are big that the game is Dx11. Crytek are known for delievering the latest and not taking advantage of Dx11 would be a bad move since (from what I've heard) it's very easy to implement into a graphics engine. Furthermore my brother said he had read an interview some time ago where Crytek stated that CryEngine 3 would take advantage of Dx11. We can only wait and see, but I trust my brother.

I hope they do implement some DX11 optimisations - I bought a GTX460 mostly for Crysis 2 . I'm not fussed about tessellation as so far it seems to offer little visual improvement for a big chunk of your FPS. I would like to see some DirectCompute physics running as my CPU is relatively weak.

That is minimum requirements people, but I have a feeling that is not legitimate.

me to. there have been no other sources of this information except that german crysis facebook page.

They are legit
Can also be found at the official german Crysis 2 page
http://www.ea.com/de/crysis-2/blog/crysis-2-pc-specs

But like many others said, those are the minimum requirements (even if its not explicitly stated there)

What if there is minimum, recommended and optimum? Metro 2033 had it like this.
Minimum=minimum
Recommended=Max Settings DX9, DX10
Optimum=Max Settings DX11

My guess is that they're minimum, since that's about right for playing crysis 1 on medium :)

Hi guys,

These minimum specs are not official or final, we'll have an announcement about this soon. Please note if you didn't hear it from me/see it on gamesas, then it's not official :)

This is definitely not minimum. If consoles can run Crysis 2, but weren't able to run the original Crysis, then why would the system requirements be higher? There are three conclusions I can draw from this:

1) These are not the actual minimum system requirements.

2) These are the actual minimum system requirements, but they're overestimated.

3) These are the actual minimum system requirements and Crytek screwed up the PC version.

Crytek is really good at optimization, so I doubt it's #3, but I guess it's possible since they're focusing so hard on the Xbox 360 version.

Thanks for letting us know :)

And besides, as long as they let us make our own configs, it should all be ok =)

I have a feeling they are high because Crytek is basing the minimum requirements on running Crysis 2 at a console like level on the PC.

I think you could go with lower hardware and still be safe, just not able to play at a console level.

But anyway, who still has anything lower than those requirements anyway? ^-^

Thanks a lot, Cry-Tom,
There you have it, an official statement from Crytek, let's just continue our discussions, okay.

Internet connection required for installation..

Why? This means that if I want to play the game 8 years from now and your servers are down I need to start using cracks. And it's not like this protection will help against piracy. Everybody knows that the crack will probably be available from day one. It only make the games more expensive because of the rights for using the DRM. It will really only bug the buyers, everybody knows that.

If it is still possible to drop this, please do. Tell EA to put the DRM where the sun does not shine.

Then about other specs, also in general:

What would people suggest? GTX295 or GTX460 1GB?
People experience with those cards and Crysis 1?
On what settings can the run what frame rates?
Ultra high an option with either of these cards?

What would be necessary to run Crysis 1 on Ultra High 1920 X 1200 4xAA 60fps? (With the hardware I have now I can’t run Crysis 1 at very high)
I refer to Crysis 1 because if that will run then Crysis 2 will also run I think.

I think, when they meant by internet required for installation, (if the spec requirements were ever true) it's just for activation. Crytek wouldn't disappoint their gamers like that, their smart enough to know how to protect their game.
