Hi,

Recently had Brink update through Steam and applied AMD Catalyst? 11.5b hotfix - Brink would resolutely refuse to start, displaying just a black screen until Windows 7 displayed the application is not responding dialogue box.

My current configuration is
AMD Phenom II X4 965,
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
6GB memory
2 x ATI Radeon HD 5770 running in Crossfire mode
Dual Monitor setup
Windows 7 x64 with the latest software updates and AMD drivers.

Cut a long story short, In CCC disabled Crossfire and turned Wait for vertical refresh to Always off, this allowed me to start the game.
In game I turned off wait for v-sync, exited then in CCC enabled Crossfire and changed Wait for vertical refresh to Off, unless application specifies.

So far so good. On my setup v-sync appears to cause an issue with various games, not just Brink. So I assume this is a buggy AMD driver issue.
