I've been thinking about lore and the possible ending to Skyrim and came to this. What if at the end of the game Alduin seemingly has the upper hand and is about to unleash his fury and complete the prophecy. But just before he can deal out this catastrophe, We find that the Dwemer had actually succeeded and created their god and said god saves the world.
Ahkulakhan(spelling?) coming out of nowhere would be pretty sweet, though it went down with the heart of lorkhan, but either way, a dwemer god whooping some dragon behind would be awesome
Maybe the Dwemer were really sent to the future when they were wiped out, and just as Alduin is about to get the upper hand, all the Dwemer will fall on him, arriving in this time period.

Just a thought.
Forget my idea. You've made the best situation this game series could ever have.
