I know Steam does patch it automatically, but is it possible to install it from a Retail DVD and forbid Steam to update the game? That way I could at least run the game. Since the 1.04 patch broke it for so many people (including me).

Or does anyone know if the Game Fixes from Skidrow will actually work? Might be worth a try. But I only found some for Version 1.6 but I thought we are on 1.04?
