Possible DX11 screens.....

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:20 pm

These are DX9 screens...
Crysis 2: upcoming patch with advanced graphics capabilities, DX11 update and screenshots at work (1)

that is what is says under the gallery :)

Well if that's the case...then this is a crappy DX 11 patch...because the game looks exactly like that in DirectX 9.

It's DX9. If it was DX11 Crytek would show us.

Lol it means what Cry-Adam said:
We're working on getting some official media for the DX11 update so please remain patient until that becomes available.
Every pic in there is dx9...

Yeah, the game already looks pretty good. CryAdam keeps teasing about DX11 looking fabulous but truthfully I can't see DX11 making a massive difference to the visuals. Still, I am waiting for the DX11 before I play through again.

These have already been confirmed not dx11 screenshots. If you translate the text, a lot of it says stuff that's on this forum about upcoming patch and 'screenshots at work' as you put it is actually 'screenshots upcoming' i.e. they haven't got screenshots for dx11 yet but will post them when they do.

Current Crysis2 graphics is high-res version of console version... far from amazing. I don't expect DX11 patch very much, because DX11 don't make textures. PC version need much better textures & more mapping on each material. And I think this DX11 patch don't change low-poly box buildings.

The page just recites Cry-Adams posting from yesterday or Wednesday, that DX11 will blow our mind. And as usual they implement their picture gallery of screenshots into the article. Nothing more, nothing less.

Im still not sure what a "Dx11 Patch" will include exactly.

Most so called Dx11 Patches included features that would have been also available on Dx10 Hardware (like the GTX 280 for example) but made accessable only on Dx11 cards. - Lets call them FAKE Dx11 patches ( Dragon Age 2 is a proper example for that)

And then some DX11 patches actually changed the grfx quality... (in a very minor way sadly like in TW Shogun 2).

So Adam will the DX11 patch be a usable thing for people with DX10 hardware?
Or will it be a DX11- hardwareexclusive Patch... and nothing everybody has to wait for.

Direct3D 11 runtime introduces Direct3D 9, 10, and 10.1 "feature levels", compatibility modes which allow use of only the hardware features defined in the specified version of Direct3D. For Direct3D 9 hardware, there are three different feature levels, grouped by common capabilities of "low", "med" and "high-end" video cards; the runtime directly uses Direct3D 9 DDI provided in all WDDM drivers.

Yes dx10 will features will work.

I too am skeptical about what this DX11 patch will offer. I mean aside from tesselation and improved shading, what else could we see?

THEY are Crytek. I have faith in them, because if they create a REAL DX11 Patch with better textures, etc. it might become the CRISIS for your PC again :D

Well, in Crysis 1 the difference between DX9 and DX10 was heavenly.

I don't get why Crytek would want official media coverage on DX11. I'm sure this only applies to PC users and not 360/PS3.

Probably an attempt to boost the fanbase and playerbase. The PC versions multiplayer is really lacking players and is a pain out of peak times.

Why not get an AMD card? Like the 6870 or 6950? Those are pretty close in price and are of the latest line in the card
